    Default Throwing a JZA70's A34x into a JZZ30

I'm just looking to clarify an issue here as I had some concerns about solenoids and input/output spline/yoke differences.

edit: It's an A342E according to the owner.

I know that the JZA70s gear boxes had the 3 solenoids so that's fine, but any slight loom differences? (connectors vs straight loom out of the box?)

I'm not going to have any issues with the torque converter not fitting to the flex plate or not hooking up right, mounts being different or having to stuff around with a custom diff am I? (though I can just swap out the extension housing due to a34x bolt patterns can't I ? even though they should both be slip yokes...)

I tried a search and didn't find anything specific to jza/jzz30 swaps, just looking to be safe here.

the problem i think you would have is the gear selector on the side of the box.

it would most likely be a straight conversion of this selector.

If your mate can get the box out of the car, take it down to your local impoter and compare it to the box's there.

i know the a341 and a340 le, e etc have all the same shafts and yokes.

JZZ30 from memory uses the fucken retarded (in a modding sense) 3 prong Y yoke on the box, JZA70/JZX81 uses the "normal" slipyoke.

ive been told the 7M box is different, 7M uses a physical means of selecting gears, whereas the JZA70/JZX81 uses electronic, but as for JZZ30 i dunno.

best i can do it compare a 7M auto and a JZZ30 auto?!?!

As far as i know the JZZ30 box had a slipyoke to. I had one behind my 1jz in my MX83 for a short time when i had it.

JZZ30 box iirc had a plug on the box for the soli's, and the MX83/JZX81/JZA70 have a loom comming out of it.

Eldar0: re: gear selector, the JZX81 uses a physical means of selecting P-R-D-2-1 just as the MX83/MA70/JZA70/JZZ30

    From an OLD thread.

    BUT
You can swap the loom off the JZX81 box and put it on the JZZ30 box, This is what i have done and it is running fine

ALSO! just remember. Between a JZX81 and a JZZ30 box the mount on the extension housing is differnt. but you can just swap them over so thats no biggie.

They have two speed sensors one at the front and one here:

that's for the ECU speed input and or TRC according to some.......^ so if that's not all hooked up ... well bad most likely. (the TRC part I'd call pollywoffle...)

One at the front I read was for oil pump speed (in a thread with cruzda). I believe being an early model soarer it uses the four pronged one (Fortunately the jza70 uses that one too) and not the cog looking thing from the jzx81

stealing ribfeasts image there.. sorry mate.

    Sso no issue there.

Cheers for the info so far guys. I figured I'd be swapping out the extension housing and now I have more than one reason to. Though I thought it was the V8's that had the 3 prong one Elmo.

As for the selector I'm probably gonna just have to pull my box and sit them next to each other and see how it looks.

Wiring up the loom to the jzz30 shouldn't be too hard I have all the wiring diagrams for the jzz30 ecus and I'm sure I can find a diagram for the jza70's auto box.

nope, im pretty sure *all* Z30s have the 3-prong rubber donut style shaft

[edit] woops, just checked the EPC, the TTs have it at the rear only, V8s have it at both ends

re jzx81 and jzz30 boxes. Conclusion is that they are direct swap except for the wiring correct? That is no problem as I am running an MV shift box anyway.

I know my A342E is using a modified JZZ30 valve body sent by MV auto's for the shiftkit - the one i removed was identical.
