    hey guys

ive got a blueslip inspection this week & need HELP ASAP

ive got a few problems so here goes:
    1. my speedo doesnt work, e.g when driving i get 0 o the speedo but the taco works fine. i have checked the cable is in the gearbox & behind the speedo guage (is it suppose to click in or what are th white clips on the cable for)
    2. my blinkers dont work. ive got no rear lights connected atm but ive got the front bumper & front corner guard lights connected. i dont even get the clickig noise- checked under driveride kick panel & found 2 other relays. there is a 6 pin connector hanging there unused & a unused bolt
    3. what colour & where is the stater soliond wire on either 18rg or 2t. (from starter to _____)

    thx heap

Just use common sense for this one...

Unscrew cable from gearbox end, and turn cable with hand, should be able to see dash move.

If dash doesn't move investigate cable (remove and check) and dash.

If dash moves, jack rear of car and turn wheels and see if part that drives the speedo gear rotates. If not the problem is the gearbox (drive gear etc).

    Cheers
    Wilbo

Chris, I dont think i sold the car to you with a flasher can. Go buy yourself a NARVA flasher can from an auto electrician or repco/bursons etc.
There will only need to be 2 wires instead of the standard 3 (i think).

Did you rewire any of the car like i suggested?

    hey guys

    1. iv just talked to a guy i know & he said that thecable screws into the back of the speed guages
if that is right there is the problem as i can slip it out with ease, as when i was putting the dash back together the cable looked like it had a white clip on it & i pushed it in- guess not

    2. NARVA can- the car is at school for tonight as im fixing the exhaust & making tail light backets, then tomorrow im swinging around to the blueslip place & getting hes opinion (i talked to him before & he said everything will pass, except the sharp edg on the side skirt easy fix)
luckily there is an auto electrician next door. so il pick one up
where does the NARVA can thing go

& the interior (except the speedo) is all sweet.
iv soldered up all the loose wires that were striped & tied together etc & put heat shrink around them & electrical tape
only thing is the wires out of the stereo need to put right connectors on the wires & electrical tape them up & cable tie them out of the way
& i also got a engine bay loom out of a ra23 (all the same except for the starter soiliond wire)

    3. see first post^

    4. Also none of the dash lights come on when i put my headlights on, all the connectors behind the dash are on & all fuses are sweet. any ideas

    5. lastly the LED lights i got for tail lights only have 1 power & 1 earth pin
& obviously the stop lights need to come on with my headlights & also when brake
so is there any way i can put a resistor in the headlight circuit so that the stop tail lights dont come on full & then run full power through the brake wire

    thx heaps

With the speedo cable there are only a couple of things that could go wrong:
    speedo gear>speedo cable>speedometer
You need to make sure they are seated properly and screwed in firmly (TA22).
    (note: USDM instrument cluster)

The TA22 speedo has a square shape input for the speedo cable.
Check your fuses, +12v ignition, grounds/earths etc.
If the TA23 indicator relay is the same TA22 then you need one of the top ones:

Make sure your indicator assembly is connected to the dash loom. The hazard switch should also be connected.
    TA22 engine wiring diagram:

    Good luck hope that helps!

yeah i tlked to someone with a ra23 just then & he said the speedo cable clips into the back of the guages (i remember on the back of the guages it is completely flat no speedo input sticking out

do you know wher bouts the indictaor relay goes

yeah the hazards, blinkers or dimmer switch dont work & by that diagram there is a switch which they all run through
how many relays are under the drivers kick panel

    3. Any ideas

well in the Haynes Toyota Celica repair manual, they show
    A) Seat belt buzzer
    B) Turn signal flasher
    C) Main relay
    D) Fuse block
    E) Fuel pump relay
    F) Ignition relay
    G) Spark control computer
    H) Seat belt warning relay
    I) Light failure indicator relay

so just ignore whats not relevant.
