Default oil pump.... Aisin = Aisin???

    Assuming Bill is correct........ http://www.billzilla.org/4agstock3.htm

Then my brand new oil pump is NOT a newer type... but an older type??

Here are photos of the brand new oil pump I purchased from ebaY. It came inside an Aisin box. It cost me $55 plus freight ($12), plus ins ($1.35)

Look at Bills photos and it appears to be the early 3 rib type..... (one on far left)

Here is a photo of my used oil pump......

Tough to tell which pump(on Bill's page) is my old one... it isn't the multi tooth like in Bill's center photo... but the group A blown pump(far right) is tough to see enough to properly tell.

In the photos above, both the old and new pump are in roughly the same position, the oil pump pick up is in the upper right, the outlet, lower right

There are some OBVIOUS differences... old=O new=N
O - smaller chamber for the intake
N - MUCH larger chamber for intake
O - has the separator between the teeth - can this help guide pump at high rpm?
    N - no such separation
O - taper as oil heads to outlet port* - less support on the driven gear?
N - no such taper* - more support on the driven gear?
    * - both do have the chamber below the pump rotors funneling the oil toward the port

Ok... now for another interesting pic... this is the drive gears , on the right is the old pump, left new. The old pump gear appears to be taller in both the tooth section and the shaft section

edited... my pump on top... Bill Sherwoods Group "A" pump on the bottom. The housings are identical....

It appears the new pump is NOT a 4AG pump, but a 4AC pump
