Help with clutch: 4age+C52

I have an sx seca with 4AGE engine and C52 gearbox. Anyhow, my clutch is gone as it slips in gear under load. I was wanting some advice as what to replace it with. I want something abit stronger than the original unit, i was thinking an excedy heavy duty clutch kit??

Im just not too sure how much this should cost(if im getting ripped off) How much should the parts cost, and how much should the labour be(i dont have the tools to do it myself). A friend of my mum has quoted $550 to replace it with a standard item and he says thats an extremely good price, but im unsure...

And finally, can anyone recomend me a place in brisbane that will do a good/cheap job.

From memory, an Exedy HD clutch kit (clutch plate, friction plate, throwout bearing) cost around about $180 a year or so ago at trade price. I think they are good for every day use.

I have no idea about FWD clutch prices, though you could always shop around for a bargain price on the clutch kit and then take it down to the mechanic so all they do is fit it. They can't be arsed putting in heaps of time to save $50 on parts that they are just going to charge you for anyway.

it's a standard 3-4 hour job - so when you factor 3-4 hours labour + ~$200 for the clutch kit... anything under $600 is decent.

How about you do some legwork yourself and make some phone calls champ?
