Can you define 'hooking up the auto' ?
hey guys, i put a soarer 1jz and a340 in my ma71 supra and its at the auto eletricians at the moment and they are having trouble hooking up the auto (supra was orginally manual and its analogue dash vs soarer auto and digital dash) if anyone has any info please let me know.
cheers

well they are trying to connect the sensors from the gearbox and the original dash wiring to get the car and dash working.
The only thing I can think of is the speedo.
Apart from that its only the PRND21 lights if you decide to hook them up.
And all of that can be solved in about 15 minutes if you still have the old autobox and the old loom.

Old box was manual, so he wouldn't have all those dash lights.Originally Posted by CrUZida

So which dash are you using???
The MA71 dash used a cable, JZZ30 has a speed sensor on the gearbox... but how to make it all work depends on what you're using
If it doesn't have P R N D 2 L lights on the dash then you don't have to worry about hooking up the wires that go to the dash to indicate this
You need to make sure the required P R N D 2 L signals from the position switch on the side of the gearbox go to the ECU though. The ECU needs R, D?, 2 and L off the top of my head. P and N is done via the NSW switch (if wired properly).
I'm not sure about the jzz30 auto wiring, it is likely that the ECU R, D, 2, L etc are already hooked up via the loom.(easy to check
).
All the sensors, solenoids etc should already be wired in the 1jzgte loom

This is assuming the old and new speedo are electronic.
If they are both mechanical, then thats one less thing to worry about.

Yeah, without him actually telling us stuff, it is a bit hard to work it out for himOriginally Posted by CrUZida

thanks guys, i have no idea if the old dash is electric or mechanical, its a 89 ma70 and the 1jz came from a 91 soarer i'm just trying to find this stuff out for the auto electrician as they are a bit confused i think.
So which dash are you using???
89 MA70 is cable I think? And if you are using the MA70 dash then just connect the cable as per normal. It should be able to be screwed into the JZZ30 auto gearbox
Btw to me it sounds as if there is no way the mechanic can be getting the wiring correct... I'd look into getting someone that knows what they are doing to sort it out. Do it once and do it right sort of thing
