Default injectors for teh p00 motor?

i've been doing a bit of research but am fairly confused about what injectors to use on my 7M with S-AFC and lexus afm.

i know i want 550cc, top feed, probably from an RX7. However I've been told that I need low impedance, like the stock 7m ones.

Glen says to get 'purple tops' from an 89-91 RX7, part number 195500-2020, which I believe to be true.

The following is a Mazda injector thing I found somewhere:

Year type, impedance plug style, plug notch position, flow rating, colour, part number.
    84-85, 13B NT, low, square, centre, 680cc, orange, 195500-0900.
    86-87, 13B NT, low, square, centre, 460cc, red ,195500-1350.
    86-87 13B T low square center 550cc tan 195500-1370
    88 13B NT high square offset 460cc purple 195500-1350
    88 13b T high square offset 550cc purple 195500-1370
    89-91 13B NT high oval center 460cc red 195500-2010
    89-91 13B T high oval center 550cc purple 195500-2020

note the 2020 are high impedance and oval shaped plugs....

so which ones should i get? will the S-AFC be able to work with the high impedance injectors because it's an aftermarket system?

final question, would 93+ RX7 550cc high impedance, part number 195500-2460 work?

    thanks heaps guys.

When I was trying to work out what RX7 injectors were what I collected some information .. Some of it may be contradictory but anyway it helped me find what I was after...

    Series 4
Series 4 are 550cc low impedance
Series IV (86-89) 550cc Low Impedance Top Feed
    Low impedance(Pink)
    Red, purple, pink 550
    High impedance ND. 195500-1370. Red
Plug center its low impedance 195500-1370
purple top 2 ohms series 4 part no ends in 1370
Purple Tops, Low impendance and square plugs = S4

    Series 5
Series 5 are 550cc high impedance
Series V (89-91) 550cc High Impedance Top Feed
    Part No. 195500-2020
    High impedance(red)
    Red, purple, pink 550
Plug offset to the side high impedance. 195500-1370
    195500-1370
pink top 13.8 ohms series 5
Pink tops high impendance more rounded plugs = S5

    thanks for that!

i know glen runs the 2020s in his 7m, but uses an aftermarket ECU so the impedance has no bearing....

ive found a set of 2020s, will an apexi s-afc be able to cope with high impedance ones?

    cheers guys!

The S-AFC will have no bearing on whether it can take high or low. Ultimately the factory ECU is still in control, you're just giving it different inputs to modify how it controls them. If teh p00 motor requires low impedance, you need low impedance.

on the other hand, if the p00 motor requires high impedance, you can use either high impedance injectors.. or low impedance with a resistor pack like most toyota engines used to use

edit: oh right.. low impedance my bad..

bbaacchhyy ptu me onto a link on supramania for some direct-fit 550cc injectors, but i cant get on to the site???? so annoying...

meanwhile i found a set of 550cc low impedance top feed siemens injectors on ebay, the previous owner was going to use them in his 7m. i will probably go with those....

if anyone knows any reasons why they may be a bad idea, speak now!

    Hi Ryley,

No idea why you can't get onto the link, but here it is again

    http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7340

And if that doesn't work, here is his email address

    [email protected]

And here is a pic of the injectors

    http://www.supramania.com/forums/att...9&d=1128802120

The price was USD $290 + shipping and they are venom injectors.

    Cheers

Ryley, I'm in the process of having some Denso low impedance 550s installed, I'll let you know what the performance is like as I'm running similar gear to you (SAFC, 1UZ afm etc). These were rx7 injectors and are purple topped. Cant get part no.s as they are at SAS with the car atm.

    Cheers,
    Matt

You will regret getting the Venom Injectors , I along with many other yanks have used these and there poo

Go for the RC Engineering Injectors.

Yeah i can chase up some RC Engineering injectors if you like , Ive just got back from the states a few days ago working on some deals.

The Venoms never flow the same and so many people have had problems with leakage and there also identical to standard injectors many seem to think there standard injectors drilled and stickered from Venom.

RC Injectors usually run about $550 AU plus clips and wires
