    Default Tvsv

Is it a bad idea to disable the TVSV to be able to run the same amount of boost in all gears?
Been looking at a site that states its not a problem but just want to double check
    thanx

its not a problem at all mate, if ur running a controller that is, it is a pain in the ass once u start upping the boost, if you dont want to run a controller or up the boost, dont disable it as disabling it just makes u run the lower standard setting in all gears, it works the same as a boost controller by bleeding off pressure so the wastegate doesnt see as much in the top 3 gears.i have had mine disabled for close to 12 months now...no problems

There is another method which consists of you soldering in a diode.

depending on what cut you want this might be a safer practice.

    http://members.home.net/redmr2/mr2/fcd.htm

Eliminate boost cut as described by an MR2 owner (same style engine) Most have had good results with this mod. If you want to get the diode required from radio shack, here are the part numbers:
    4.3V 1N4743A (Cat.#: 900-3028) 250mW
    4.3V 1N5343B (Cat.#: 900-2920) 900-1500mW
    4.3V 1N5243B (Cat.#: 900-3099) 125mW
Thanks to Matt Yates for Info

sw20r, the tvsv isnt a fuel cut related thing, its nothing more than a stock form of boost controller. that link doesnt work either bro

I never said anything about fuel cut

its a boost cut. but you can modify the signal it recieves (more boost = more power voltage)

boost cut/fuel cut, same thing man, Turbo Pressure Sensor sensor sees too much boost, cuts fuel.thats what FCD's (Fuel Cut Defencers) are for, thats not what hes asking at all, the TVSV system has nothing to do with overboost defence (fuel cut/boost cut), the tvsv is just a fancy bleed valve that gives the engine more boost in 3rd,4th and 5th gear, when u disableTVSV, the fuel cut still remains , one has nothing at all to do with the other.

Yea ive got a boost controller.
i will definately go ahead and disable it then, ive been told you run lower boost in first 2 gears but its more even boost on all 5 so it seems like a good idea.
Still new to the modding scene so im sorta learnign as i go along. LOL
    Thanx for the help guys

    DV is right.

GT4junkie. just disconnect it. thats how i have it done atm, its the only proper way when fitting a boost controller. remember to block both ends too.

*dances around the room* im right lol....nah gt4junkie, make sure u seal the ends of the tvsv hose when u cut it mate, and seal it properly, i used a tech screw, silastic and zip ties to make sure mine sealed and stayed that way, you dont want it to open up and start bleeding an unlimited ammount of pressure from ur wastegate actuator

Ive gone to disable the tvsv today, but it seems like the guy that owned it previously has already done it.
What i dont get is, if the tvsv has already been disabled, why does it still run lower boost in the lower gears?
In 1st and 2nd gear it runs like 10psi, 3rd 11psi, and fourth and fifth its running 12psi
Was just looking to see if it was already disabled, so was to lazy to take cooler and stuff off to get a good look at it. But from what i could see the Hose has been cut and sealed with a screw and zip ties.

mate, its still never gonna boost as much in first as u will in other gears because there just isnt as much load on the engine, the difference is that limiting factor isnt there anymore....tvsv isnt mroe psi with every gear...its low psi in first and second...and 2 psi higher in the next 3 gears...it seems to behave very similar to mine, except i seem to reach full boost in second without a problem...maybe my turbo isnt as dead as i thaught...lol
