    Default Tank Float

Ok heres one you might not have heard before,

I am in the process of getting my 1jz VK Commodore back on the road and went to put in a new fuel pump, in the process i thought id check why my fuel gauge didnt work, did all the tests and ended up taking the sender unit out of the tank, and my float is gone off the end, hence it always read empty,

does anyone have any idea what the hell i should use to replace it?

    cheers

Really old Holdens and Ford's use a cork float! What you need is a plastic float. I would suggest you buy a new sender unit from GMH. They can't/should not be real expensive.

    cheers Chuck.

yeah thought they used cork, would just rather stick something on the end than have to buy the whole unit.

The problem appears to be the glue GMH used was soluble in fuel, after a while!

    cheers Chuck.

you can get a new sender and gauge from autobarf bout 80 bucks its sender goes from 30ohm to 245ohm i think that should be close enough to stock, if not check the resistance of the stock one

Go to a fishing store and look at their small hard plastic floats with a hole up the middle. Also, some boat stores have floats that attach to a key ring so that you won't lose them overboard. Next stop would be a science store that sells glass chemical wear.

I used to eat alot of natural foods. That was until I learned that most people died of natural causes.
