    Default Tailshaft for 1G ra28.

As far as i have read in other threads, an auto tailshaf from 28's suits a w58 conversion into an ra28? Hoping for a few people to clarify this, lots of members rids list it in the conversion area but couldn't find a heap of detail. Is it a straight swap over? Do you need to change the yoke and end flange? Are these the same as 23 tailshafts? prace for a second hand one? Obviosly im running the standard rear end at the moment, will consider a conversion a little later down the track if it deosnt hold up but would just like to get it driving sooner rather than later. Thanks.

The RA23 stock manual tailshaft fits the W57 behind my 1G-GZE and bolts to the stock rear end (obviously!). Nothing is written about this because the original parts just fits. End of story.

yeah stock one fits my w58 1ggte with stock rearend. People then usually shorten the stock one to fit an upgraded rear end.

Thanks guys. I gather the stock manual tailshaft is a different length?
In short, for the stock rear end, with a w58 in a ra28, i need to source a second hand stock auto tailshaft from a 23 or 28? Correct me if im wrong.

No, with a stock rear end with a w58, you should have no trobles using a manual tailshaft...

What is the difference between the Auto and Manual RA2# Tailshaft?

Haha. Cheers for the reference Twenty-Eight!

Thomas - Damn shame you didn't ask for this a month ago, I just sold my modded tailshaft to a guy who wanted one to hack up, into a ae86.

Would ahve been PERFECT for your setup. Alas.... :-(

Let me know wher eyou go to get one made up if you do because I'll be wanting to get my new single piece done by someone decent.
