Anyone know?
I got the multigrips on the thing and it will spin (very hard though) but i cannot pry it out
Tried heating it slightly. No
Tried CRC. No
Anyone?

if you can spin them, theres a chance you may be able to get them out, heres how i solved the same problem...
if youve got enough meat to get vice grips on the bastard, id reccomend, using a hacksaw to cut a small, 3-4mm groove into the side of the dowel, then, using a hammer and chisel, put the tip of the chisel into that slot, and whack it with the hammer, the chisel will dig even further into the dowel, and hopefully pull it out.
if you phuck that up, Ezy outs ftw.

Heating the dowels will only expand them and make them harder to get out. you can gently heat the area around the dowels. If you can get vice grips on them , try wedging a screwdriver behind the grips and apply some leverage whilst twisting the dowel with the grips.
As a last resort If that fails take the flywheel to a machine shop and get them to drill them out
Cheers
Not a lot of help, but in the past i've been able to remove them with enough twisting and pulling.
If you get totaly stuck go to an engine/head reconditioner and they should have a dowel puller.
Same as other guys i have general been able to get hem out by twisting and pulling/levering at the same time.

jon
Use a stud extractor. Tighten the extractor onto the dowel, and tap/lever the dowel out. Sorry dont have a pic of said extractor, it is a little larger in diameter than a coke can, probably 30mm thick, has a pivoting knurled lever in the middle of the case.
cheers Chuck.

What you do is put the dowel in the vise tighten it up and then use a soft face hammer and hit the flywheel this will work every time !!!![]()

I was told how to do this by a mechanic. You need two hammers one of which is a claw hammer. Use the claw hammer in nail pulling mode. Use hammer number two to knock the claw hammer hard up against the dowel so that it grips the dowel firmly. Then use hammer number two to knock against the head of the claw hammer to pull out dowel. Worked for me
Jealousy is a curse
If you can turn it with the vise grips, you are 90% there.. (unless it comes in from the back) try and get a prybar or simular under the vise grips.. so you can get upward force while twisting.
That new bolt removing ice spray should work well... freeze the dowel and it will shrink. Turning and pulling gently at the same time also works.
May I ask why you need to remove the dowel?? If it is so somebody can face the flywheel for you, don't bother, let the machine shop pull it out with a proper puller. Same goes for pulling block deck dowels out.
