    Default 18RC tappet clearance

As the title suggests, I'm after specs for tappet clearance on the 18RC engine (Which is, I imagine, the same as the specs for the 18R engine).

I know they're printed in a book somewhere around my house, but do you think I can find them?

    Thanks in advance

From haynes manual Celica 1971 thru 1985
    18rc valve clearance (engine hot),
    Intake 0.008 inch
    Exhaust 0.012 inch
There should be a sticker on the cam cover giving the clearances as well though.

No, it came off when we were polishing the cover. It's pretty, but a touch less practicle.

They sound about right from memory. And the hot part I know is correct.

    Thanks for the help

    Hey dood,

These figures are from the Toyota Green Book.

    Valve Clearance (Hot)
    Intake 0.20mm (0.0079in)
    Exhaust 0.36mm (0.0141in)

Seems to be a bit of difference with the Haynes manual for the exhaust clearance.

Is the green book giving them for the 18r or the rc, i think theres a difference. I know that the early and late model had different valves, I'll go and look at the rocker cover on my old 18rc in the back yard. watch this space.

OK i just checked my old 18rc's rocker cover, its as follows.

    Intake hot .20, cold .18
    Exhaust hot .36, cold .33

I know it would come in handy some day.

    Hey dood,

The green book I have covers the 18R, 18RC and 18RG (as on the front cover) the specifications page seems to only have a figure for the 18R and the 18RG though.
