As for strut top, i know 23/28 has a 110mm bolt spacing where as ta22 has only 100mm...
Thats about the best i know...

Hey
so im looking at doing a brake conversion on my ta22 using the s5 rx7 calipers, was hopeing to come out with a similar result as TurboRA28
http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=184&page=25
At the moment i have some ae86 vented discs up front with what i believe to be the standard calipers, everything else is ta22 stuff.
so my question is what are the differences between the ra28 strut, hub and backing plate when compared to the ta22?

lots. As you probably know the RA28 is infact a bigger assembly and as such has a few distinct differences. Bearing size, rotor size bracket size suspension tensions spring tensions etc etc. They were built for a heavier faster car. If you want to do this conversion to the RX7 calipers Might I suggest you first complete this conversion. . .

once that is completed you will have the basis for the RX7 calipers conversion. don't stress that guide is step by step and lists all the parts you need. you can also pick up RA28/23 struts for around $80-$100. Infact I have a pair here if your from Adelaide I can sell you if you want. This conversion is a bolt in affair too. Really good for a intro to mechanics as there is no welding, fabricating or drilling involved.
Hope this helps.

I'll add to Nathan's reply.
From what you describe hismidy you may already have the larger sized hub/bearing/strut assembly in there. The AE86 hubs and rotors will not go on the TA-22 strut/stub axle.
The rotors may well have been adapted and a new caliper bracket fabricated to fit up to the TA-22 hub. The standard TA-22 caliper will not fit over such a vented rotor so you would have either the AE86 caliper or something such as an RA/MA60/65 caliper
You will need to give it a closer look. Check if you have adaptor hats that were made to fit the rotors on. Check if you have independant caliper brackets or the calipers are mounted directly to the stub axle casting, as for AE86 or the Corona range of struts.
Once you have determined what you indeed have then you can work out how to fit your new option up.

Hey thansk for the replys guys, ill get the car up on the hoist again this weekend and take a few measurements and even some photos(if that makes life any easier) and try to work out what i have in there at the moment.
the caliper that on there is a single piston if that narrows it down at all.
cheers
