su type carby for suck-through and weber for blow through, webers can hold about 12psi before stuffing up (use a rising rate fuel regulator with it)
Hi, basically as title states I'm looking at turbocharging a carby car. Is there a specific type of carby of which I should be looking for? Fabricating is easy for me so the rest of it is no drama's. I'm loking to do a suck through style, just concerned as to which carby or is it a case of whatever you like?
Thanks Adam

how many cc is the engine? there might be a similar sized engine you can grab a carb and other gear from ie nissan exa or daihatsu charade turbo or sigma turbo
- ma61 + 2jz-gte + v160 + 3.5 torsen
Microtech? they're very similar to a carburetor, just an electronic versionOriginally Posted by Pimpin_1JZ
the carby would probly start easier with the choke on.

Ok I lie, I guess you could want to do it as a learning experiment / something to do
But megasquirt / EFI is cheap these days, and will have much better results! Might be worth thinking about?

weber DMTT?? if you can find one.. or get one prepped fro pressure.. but then once tuned etc, is probabyl more expensive that a microleb or megasquirt, for half the result.
edit, here is a nice essay from Jmac

fwiw: a re-jetted Zenith Stromberg carbi (e.g. model CD175) worked on my old setup (draw-thru) which was an 18R with low compression and cam to suit turbo. Required custom manifolds and re-graphed dizzi and colling system improvements ... and was still a PITA.
... i've since vowed to never own or drive a carbi-fed car.
Well basically I race autocross (low end rally), for the new season I'm looking for a KE2/3/5/7 as a new base car. We have built a new track and the RT142 corona isn't going to be up to this track so I am after something smaller. So I was thinking a corolla with a 2t/3t and turbocharge that. So pretty much it is a learning excersise, if I kill it it won't matter as it is really only a fun car for me. There are 4 runs per round at about 1:35 seconds so it doesn't have to last all that long anyway...

For draw through I have used SD webbers with good results. They get a little fiddley to set up/tune but once they are I think its a great set up.
Are you going to use an intercooler?
Just had another look. Sorry Pimpin_1JZ, mines actually a Stromberg.
Still, yours if you want it ...

Well it isn't going to be running for all that long at a time. So really there is no need for it. Plus it is a suck/draw through style I'm doing so the intercooler idea won't really work.Originally Posted by IS1000
