Can easily be done. My old man has taken LPG kits out of cars in the past, just make sure you get someone who knows what they're doing to do it.
hi
i found a mx73 cressida that i would like to buy but it has LPG and i want to do a 1j conversion
can i just piss the LPG off and take the tank out and it be the same as any other 1j conversion or will this end up being a nightmare and not worth buying
i know nothing about LPG i def don't want to keep it. but the car is pretty good condition and its kind of hard to find one localy and half clean.

I could possibly throw a few dollars your way for the LPG system.
cheers Chuck.

i had a look today at the car. he has a book from the people that put the LPG in and pretty sure he has reciepts.
Have you thought of the posibility of retaining the LPG?
1J on LPG for every day running.. woot
just set it up for blow thru

i did think of it. apparently you can run more boost because it burns colder or something. i really don't know any about it LPG. but it would be different. would you need a aftermarket computer to run LPG on a 1j?
you wouldnt need a ecu at all as far as im aware. Just need somthing to control spark that is all. LPG is manual.
yes, colder plugs as well.
However - 1JZ with 2x bar boost on gas = screeming!
Talk to someone that does lpg conversions, they'd give you the best recommendation as to which avenue to take.
Im interested as to the result as i currently own 2 lpg vehicles.
Id be interested as to the possibilities of a LPG 1j or 2j!
gas is for barbeques![]()
I quite like paying 65.9c for LPG![]()
Theres a few companies that are about to bring out LPG LIQUID Injection. Replacing factory injectors with LPG LIQUID injectors, and then tuning them with aftermarket computers.
http://www.lpgli.com/features.html is one ... http://www.gas-injection.com/ another.
Can run more boost as it has a higher RON, and less intercooling as the state change from liquid to gas cools down the charge air. Also with injection you can even get better economy, no more of the ancient technology blow through systems that can cause backfires and blow your intake apart.
If your planning on aftermarket computer & know a GOOD tuner, then do some research into keeping the LPG.
I'm planning on using LPG LIQUID injection for my next project.

Yep, my dad runs an LPG injection system on his 6G74 Pajero. They are a good system, in his case it's LPG vapour injection (there's also LPG liquid injection, still being developed I think). It runs its own set of injectors and a piggyback ECU. This way it's still dual fuel, starts on petrol, switches to LPG once coolant has reached 35°C. Can switch between fuels instantly. Auto switches back to petrol if you run out of gas.
These systems crap all over the old LPG setups, very economical and great power output. I'm told that with the liquid injection you can output more power than you can on petrol. Be warned though - tuning is EVERYTHING in these systems, we've had a fair bit of trouble getting ours tuned right, mind you one of the big reasons is because the place that did the install doesn't have a dyno. Ideally we would book in some dyno time and get him to tune the car then.

I have the old fashioned dual fuel set up and I like it. Great torque down low.
Biggest issue with dual fuel is the different ignition advance requirements for the two fuel types.
LPG also displaces more air than petrol vapour since it is a gas fuel.
Otherwise I love LPG.
