Can a 1jz igniter be used in place of a 2jz igniter ?
My mates 2jz igniter has shit itself....... and we are unable to find a second hand one !
although we can find a 1jz igniter.
now the plugs are the same and they look the same but the part numbers are different![]()
Has anyone used a 1jz igniter on a 2j before or know if its possible to do?

right oh..... so the 1j igniter is interchangeable with the 2j one even though the part no. is different.
FWIW brett.. were you using a std ecu when you put the 1j igniter on your 2j ?

I've also interchanged. 1jz is find one 2jz and vice versa
In fact my 2jz has a 1jz igniter
Standard ECU.

Im using a RN85 ignitor on my 2JZGE....
Lots of the parts are actually the same, but the associated mounting brackets are different and hence the different part numbers.

Im running a 1jz ignitor on my CA18DET, so i have 2 spare channels incase i cook one
+its an awesome ignitor, pumps almost 10 amps! (m&w sit at about 12)
