Default finding vac leaks - tricks of the trade?

Anyone got any advice handed down over the generations for finding tricky inlet manifold vac leaks. I have done the usual with a stethoscope and a tried a squeegy bottle along join etc with no joy.

Any dye or similar i can try and pressurise the system with?

close all valves and pressurise, and spray soapy water on potential leak spots

edit...plug exhaust pipe, plug intake around throttle body... pressurise slightly with compressed air line (into injector spot or sensor hole?) , spray soapy water and profit?

They have to accrew enough for nose reconstructions as well as feeding his mime family. The dont talk much so they never need much water for their dry mouths.

Like Stu said. Get some pvc pipe with a screw on end like an inspection cover thing and then glue an air line fitting on the end. Put the pipe where your air filter is and then hook it up to the compressor and voila.

Its much better because you dont have the engine running so there should be no noise other than the hiss of an air leak.

just use carby cleaner or start u bastard i think thats easier, if the engine is dead cold the tubine housing wont be hot and the vac leaks might be a tad bigger as the metal hasnt expanded, you dont coat it just little squirts, you know wer the leak is becuase the engine will rev up a tad.

    dont make a machine hehe.

Got yourself a barbie? If so take the bottle off (2kg work best due to the male fitting on the end) go find some garden hose about 2m or so, attach it to the bottle somehow turn it on and check for gas leaks. Then turn on the gas and go around the gaskets etc... engine rpm should increase and run smooth. But keep away from dizzy, leads or anyhing that produces a spark... Also can be used to start a car with a stuffed fuel pump carby or efi..
