is it like the nodule on the rx7 caliper that if you shave off, you open the gallery between the 2 pistons?

i'm running the shortened ae86 strut tubes and brakes with the sw20 turbo AGX's ( ftw!!! )
the tubes needed to be cut 1 7/8" for the shorties to fit right. No spacers and still have a couple of threads showing on the top nut. its a nice snug fitment.

these are bolted into my RA21. also have the universal 2.5" GC coil-over setup with 7"x300# and the ride is very firm. But not harsh. I drive around on setting #2 and autoX on #3 or #4 depending how smooth the course is.

But now that the hybrid is going turbo i need more brakes. those lil rotors just wont handle it.

When i said that the ae86 might be the same length, i meant uncut. just incase lol. I only cut my struts 40mm and im running a 20mm spacer, but i got a hole drilled out so i can run it at the top of the strut so the insert is shorter pretty good huh

guys im considering giving this all a go,
i have struts and calipers, just need to sort out the rotors,
the best way to go seems to get the RDA slotted rotors and get them machined down and re drilled? is filing out the calipers really that bad?
all going into a TA22 so what should i do about the booster? and will teh existing suspention match up? im about to redo the shocks and springs soon anyway
    Cheers

Fileing down the calipers is a bad idea.
From what i can see there isnt enough meat on them to do this safely.

Better to loose a bit of braking capacity than possibly have them fail all together.

Yeah, 14s will still fit. I run 14" rims on the race car, and while its close they will fit.
The MA61 stockers will fit too

Yes - I agree 110% its not good to file away material from the inside of the calipers, so that is why I machined down the rotors instead.
And yes, your original 14 inch steelies will fit except mine caught on the rotors on two places as I drove slowly down the driveway, testing my work for the first time.
It looked like where the centre section of the wheel was welded to the outside of the wheel, that was fouling the calipers.
What I did to fix this was to put bright water colour paint on the inside of the rims all around where they were most likely rubbing, refit them, drive up and back the driveway for 30 metres and them take them off again.
Where the paint was missing was the part rubbing on the calipers.
20 seconds work with a 4 inch angle grinder, just to take those high spots off, wash the water colour paint off, and never a problem since.
    Cheers,
    Mitch.
