    Hi everyone,

I need some help, I've been offered some RA25 tailights in damn good condition for $570 delivered to my doorstep,

    Is it worth my efforts?

I think that it is, but im unsure of what they sell for these days, i dont want dickhead responses please im very VERY serious about this.

it depends on condition. could be had for a fair bit less that that, or for a lot more, depending if they are rooted, fixable, passable or brand spankers...

what are they worth to you?

The pictures that they guy sent me show that they are in really great condition the only blemishes is that the lenses are a little bit faded, but by the looks of the piccies it could just be dust as they are like finger marks where it has wiped the dust off the lights.

He has had them in storage for the past 7 years.

Do they come with all thr trim bits and centre garnish?

Personally I think they look far worse than RA28 lights but it's your car and your money so ultimately your decision.

    $570.... FARK!

your better off finding a much cheaper set, and spending some time to restore them yourself! but seriously... RA25 tail lights are WAAAAAYYY over rated...

Nah, that's the going price these days for OK condition ones.

If you are talking about the ones I think you are, they're ST ones... with the silver finish around the lenses.

I think that is a fair price (going on market value), but it all depends on whether you can justify spending that much on something that is all about looks.

forey - that's a familiar storey... airfireman from perth has a similar story... bough his and they came with out the centre panel... he cut down the RA28 one to fill the gap.

Prob with cutting down the RA28 centre is the profile is different so when they are up against the tail lights the centre looks missaligned and out of place. Will do as a temp. fill but will annoy the crap out of you every time you look at it.

    Hi,

And then you need to find some way to do the interior trim because the internal trim of the 25/27 is different to the 28. And, you can't use 25/27 trim because it is designed, on the driver side, to have a spare wheel in the liftback section - which the 28 does not have.

Are 25/27 rear lights over rated? Yes, they are. They are over priced. However, the price of 25/27 parts are usually driven upwards by 28 owners who want to make their car look a little different, and the 25/27 parts (the parts that fit) are good for that.

    Personally, 25 parts belong on a 25, and not a 28.

Now, if you still are not sure, I'll buy them 'cos I can always do with a spare set.

Y'know some people just like the RA25 lights over the RA28 items River... not everyone is trying to do the whole RA25 replica thing.

If some RA25 tail lights came up at a decent price, i would buy a set for my RA28 too.

Well, im not trying to do a RA25 conversion, i personally think that they just look better than the ra28 ones, hence why the 25 ones are more special to me

Well the good news is that they were on ebay and the guy originally said that he wanted US$600 + US$70 postage, but i got them for US$449.99 + US$70 postage.

I am very happy with them, yes, they are ST ones but i have sourced out an original GT badge for a ta27 that i bought for a whoping $7.50 inc. postage .

When they arrive i will show off my goodies

Oooh forgot to mention......my set has a centre piece
