Because it's expensive. I've seen custom bellhousing adapters go for 600 and up
I have heard of people using an adapter plate for the 4AG to W series transmission. My question is... is there a reason its not a more popular conversion?
I know I would need to make a custom slave cylinder line (easy) and use a double pilot bearing (easy), but other than that it seems pretty straight forward to me on a way to save alot of money. Is there issues of it fitting the trans tunnel on an AE86?

Sa22c Series 1 rx7, 12a extend port, 900rwkw @ 93,320 rpm sold
Ra65 celica hatch, 22re with 2.25" exhaust, 500Nm @ 27rpm sold
Ae86, 4agze, 170Takumi Powers @ 11,000 rpm
need large piece of alloy to make the adaptor.
may need to machine off some of front of bellhousing.
usual alignment issues.
if you have the alloy, and access to machining stuff, and are careful about measuring (ie, lining up the input shaft for position and depth), then there is no reason it wouldn't work.
as long as you have access to all the bolts to be able to physically install it.

Not a bellhousing adapter... an adapter plate. It uses the stock W58 bellhousing, but has the bolt holes for both the T50 and W58.Originally Posted by Intense

There's a local company who a friend of mine says they can make it for around $200. I dont know... I just thought to myself why are so many companies making custom 4A to W5x adapter bellhousings when it would be cheaper to just make an adapter plate... maybe there's a reason they dont work as well?Originally Posted by oldcorollas

my car runs what must be a t50 bellhousing with an adaptor plate to the Wxx box
seems to work ok,It just has an extended spigot bearing, splines appear to reach 90% of the clutch hub
could be an easier or cheaper option(less alloy!)

Yeah there was a guy around a little while ago trying to sell WXX gearbox to T50 bellhousing adaptors, it appeared to work but for some reason it never got popular? I'll see if I can find the thread.
