    Question oil feed restrictor size

I spoke to Garrett about whether i need an oil restrictor for my turbo (HKS 2540) and got two answers.

when i first rang up to identify the turbo they said if oil pressure is over 60psi then i would need one.

its a journal bearing turbo but my motor (4age 100kw) will put out +60psi when revving.

i bought a restrictor from motorsport connections but its only 1mm.

Then I rang Garrett back to ask what size i should drill it out to and then they said that i didn't need one.

I'm pretty sure i do because if i drive it hard oil will leak out the seal and start burning on the housing.

So i guess my question is; what size do i drill out this restrictor to?

whatever size is required to ensure oil pressure is not >60psi at max load/pressure?

You could try ringing GCG turbos.

    or even email them.

I found them helpful when i dealt with them

its not a rear oil seal that is your problem here is it? -- you have had problems with oil leaking in the past?

When i bought my 3540 it came with a restrictor that sits in the core. It just slips in where the screw in supply fitting goes.

The way to check your oil flow capability is to pull off the line before the turbo and place the line into a measuring flask of some sort. Then start the car and run for 15 sec. Measure the amount of oil pumped out and times it by 4 to get the amount per min.
