Question Swapping W5x boxes and keeping correct speedo drive...

Along with my 1G conversion I swapped the in the W58 that came with the engine. I swapped the old W55's speedo cable drive (the part held in with the clip on the side of the box that is easy to pull out and swap).

Is this all I should have to do to keep the speedo correct (the diff and tyre diameter have not changed), or do I also have to swap antother part from inside the box? The reason I ask is that the speedo seems to read well under now :S

There are different gears inside the gearbox too.

10 and 11 teeth spring to mind, and I think there may also be a 12?

Also as another note there are smaller / larger 11 teeth internal gearbox gears (I think my experience was 11 teeth internal gearbox gears). With the smaller internal gear the 'external' gear is larger so that it still meshes.

The little white nylon gear that you insert into the gearbox has 10:32, which is internal:external teeth count, you could check both your gears to see if they are meant to have the same internal gearbox tooth count

Thanks man. Yeah, I'll pull both external drives off and see if they are the same.

I really don't want to have to take the gearbox apart to change an internal plastic gear I could be lucky with putting the W58's drive external back on but that would be a complete fluke.
