Angry How to change Head Unit GZ20

hey guys wasnt sure where to post this but it ended up here, feel free to move it where ever.
well my z20 came with a pretty dunga headunit and i wanna put my pioneer deck in, but i cant seem to find a way to getting to the bracket holding the headunit in place, ive unscrewd all of the screws but still cant seem to get the center console too move.

there is like a cross member looking bar holding it together in the middle but i cant get a screw driver underneath there, it always gets caught on the gearboot!
How have you guys gotten around this?

    Cheers Josh

Have you removed the center console from the back first? I think theres only 4 screws in total holding the whole gearstick surround part in, two just about the radio and two down next to the seats. But in order for it to lift up.. the rear section (with the console) needs to be removed and slid out to the back.

Havn't got my car here to check at the moment though.

Thats all thats needed to remove it on mine... but it will not come off until the center console is removed or just slid back slightly. Undo those two screws near your legs with the arrows and the two screws behind the seat to do this.

Then you unscrew the gearknob and the gearstick surround should lift off it.

ive got all the screws undone, but with the console do u lift it up or will it slide back with force.

Console is in two parts, the gearstick surround which is pretty much the part forwards of the handbrake, and the center console which has the storage compartment etc.

The center console should just slide up and back a bit which seems to unlock the gearstick surround so it can be lifted up at the back and out. Took me a while to figure it out when I first did it too.

EDIT: I just remembered there are screws INSIDE the compartment which need to be removed as well I think... on mine they're broken though.

I just poked a hole through the rubber for the main wiring loom for the power cable, then ran it down behind the glovebox and under the kickpanels under the door (there's a plastic C section to run them through), then up under/behind the rear seat into the boot at the sides. I ran the power cable through the passenger side and the RCA's through the drivers side, if you don't have enough length of RCA just run it through the middle of the car under the carpet etc. Don't run RCA's with the power cable otherwise you'll get interference

was easy as man, once i got that little bit of help.
Also where abouts does the power cable for the amp come out when i push the chassis hole in the engine bay.
i looked under the glove box, but i left that in. its just like an air condition there or something like that, so where should my wire be????
