    Default Air Con Advice

I'd like to get the AC in the z12 soarer going at some stage...

But I'd like to do it once, and never have an issue with it again. Like a nice new car (I gassed the AC in the old cressida 3 or so times and it would leak from a new spot each time the fucker! ).

As a result I'm thinking of pressure testing the compressor, evaporator and condenser out of the car initially. New O-rings, etc.

One thing that I haven't been able to come across much if any info on is the 'Regulator' in the stock Toyota sytem... How does one test it?

    Pressures:
TSRM (MA61 should be same as MZ12 I suspect) indicated that if I pressure test to the following it would be a good start...
    >Evaporator POST expansion valve to Compressor IN 28psi
    >Compressor OUT to Evaporator PRE expansion valve to 213psi
    >Compressor Only to 43psi

    For My Reference...
    http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar.../AC/AC_004.gif
    http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar.../AC/AC_034.gif

So everything on the High pressure side should be tested to 213psi

Everything on the low pressure side should be tested to 28psi. This is from the inlet to the

And the compressor should be tested to 43psi.

Can anyone offer advice to steer me in the right direction?

Anyone know any good Brisbane AC places?

    Cheers
    Wilbo

im sure most of the leaks come from the joins.

you probably wont be able to test it properly unless the system is completely together.

replace all the o-rings, lubricate them and locate them properly when you tighten the join....

i havent had an issue with mine yet...

Yep absolutly planning to do that (replace all O rings).

But knowing my average luck my evaporator will have a leak, and finding that in car would be fun

Bolt the whole system together out of the car and test it then?

Any decent AC shop should have a leak detector anyway... then the only fun would be in changing the evap

Replace all the o'rings, & the receiver dryer too. This is the filter for the system, & traps moisture.
I'd probably remove the compressor, drain & refill with the correct quantity of a/c oil as well.

When the system is gassed, the a/c shop should vac it down for a while, & lock it off. That way if theres a leak, the system will start returning to atmospheric pressure.

Sure, it wont tell you if theres a leak only at high pressure.. but can usually save gassing it up - only to have it leak out again.
