blocked rad, pull it and have it re-cored........
thermo is spinning the right way?
(thats if you can confirm the rest is fine)
My t18 gets a wee bit hot. Normal driving too and from work etc it sits on 1/4 on the highway but as soon as i get into the slightest traffic jam or start driving through suburbia it heats up to about 3/4 then i turn it off and the water in the over flow is boiling.
The clutch fan was fucked as i could grab it with my hands and hold it still at idle and still have my fingers attached. I replaced it with a 12 inch thermo fan. Wired up properly using a relay and fuse etc but no thermo switch so it runs constantly with the ignition on which I'm ok with. Still heats up to 3/4 just takes 30 mins give or take of suburbia/traffic driving for it to get there.
Thermostat is working fine and it has coolant in the system so why ?

Thermo is spinning the right way. Might be blocked, Going to flush it tomorrow arvo with some chemical crap dad has.
Flushed it and red mud came out. Sits 1/4 when moving at any speed now and sits on 1/2 when idle for long periods of time. Heats up during skids though but i expect that.
**sigh**
Heats up everywhere again and the water level is fine so i will replace the radiator with one from Just Alloy Radiators and 16inch thermofan and that should be enough.
How did you check the thermostat?Originally Posted by too_quick
Could also be a corroded water pump impeller.
Grotty.![]()
Two-smoking barrels.
Replaced it today and same story. Will do the water pump before the radiator because its cheaper but the radiator will still need to be fitted as have plans that will happen when my daily is sweet again.Originally Posted by grotty100
For some reason it doesn't over heat anymore ?
Radiator is blocked and overheating bad. I filled the rad up and the water came out of the top tank 1st so the tanks are coming off and being cleaned + new inlet and outlet.
Ended up with a reco radiator. Heating issues are over for now.Originally Posted by too_quick
