    Default superstrut suspension

    Hi guys,
I need a passenger side superstrut lower control arm...
it was just unfortunate that some nails popped the passenger side tyre while i was at a bad bumpy road with pot holes... ( u all know what syd roads are like..)
so straight away i've changed the tyres, got an allignment and checked the control arms, i found the front lower control arm bush, where it connects to the subframe, had some fresh grease squeezed out of it, the ball joint where it connects to the hub also had a bit of grease coming out of the ball joint sleeve too...

even after the tyre replacement and wheel allignment, my car pulls slightly towards the left, according to the printout, the driver's side has much more negative camber than the passenger side..

so i guess the busted bush is what's contributing to the weird steering, and i need the lower control arm replaced..

my question is, where can i get a new control arm from?
Toyota Australia can get them but it'll take like 4 weeks.. plus they wanted something like 400 dollars for it..
does anyone know anyone else who stocks them and sells it for a cheaper price?
    cheers

You can only get them from Toyota AFAIK. I need new components, and was quoted almost $2500 for all six replacement parts (upper ball joints, front lower ctrl arms and rear lower ctrl arms).
You *can* apparently get them remanufactured/reconditioned, but they don't last nearly as long. (I heard as low as 5000-10000Kms).

AE101 and AE111 superstrut suspension is identical across all Corolla body types.
Same across Celica body types. Part numbers are different between models though.

According to the Toyota EPC, both the front and rear the lower control arms and the upper ball joints (the high wear parts that generally require replacement) on the Celicas are the same part numbers between models, and the ST202 and ST205 including GT4, SS2 and SS3 are all listed together.

ok my bad, turns out most of the parts are the same, the struts are diff, and the track rod ends are diff. But the fig 8's and the leading and trailing control arms are the same part no.

Yea, a straight swap isn't possible due to the differences you mention, but the bits that cost a packet to replace are the same.

the ae111 on the other hand is different to what celica's got...
same as the ae101, totally interchangable, except in the jap magazine i've got here says that the ae111 superstruts have slightly bigger balljoints.. which is meant to be stronger
god love the superstruts... almost costing me a kidney...

i'll be checking with toyota on monday, i'll see how i go from there..
can the front lower control arm bush be replaced with urethane though?
i know it's not just a bush, feels like as if it's got a ball joint thingy inside... kinda like pollowball/rosejoint, except it's got a rubber sac surround it with full of grease inside...

    cheers guys

btw, anyone know how much one of the front lower control arm cost? i've replaced the drivers side front lower control arm and the figure 8 once about 2 years ago and i vaguely remember it cost me about 600 something dollars...
    now its the passenger side...
Terra operative, do you remember the quote from toyota by any chance at all?
wish i had the luck that Cuts have...

Yea, AE101 and AE111 are identical.

You sitting down? These prices will blow you away.... (They're for the AE101 Levin, also AE111)

    Front upper balljoint assembly
    RH 43310-19025 - $100
    LH 43310-19025 - $100

Lower arm sub assembly (rear arm, includes what I presume to be the fig 8 linkage?)
    RH 48605-12200 - $600
    LH 48606-12190 - $600

    Front arm sub assembly
    RH 48068-19155 - $530
    LH 48069-19135 - $510

That's $2500 right there, but are all the bits you need to rebuild the suspension, exc. the struts.

We need to find someone in Toyota who can do trade price...........

I had a look for the bigger balljoints you mention, but all balljoints for the AE101/111 models are the same. do you have any other reference I can look at?
