Repco and Super Cheap both do ADR approved seatbelts.
I’m chasing some new seat belts. I previously had retractable belts from an Mk2 Ford Escort but they are now frayed and will not pass QLD Transport roadworthy. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for brand new items ie. Brand and part numbers. Where do I go and how much do you think they will cost?
Thanks to anyone that has gone down this road and can provide some knowledge.
Justin

Careful though. Don't buy the replacement Klippan belt for a celica as they don't have the drop-down ie they loop over at the roof. A mate put these in and they cut into his neck. We used Early holden belts but can't recall the model; might of been Torana.
just go for full harnesses![]()
and only cost a lil more than new retractables, if you get 2" blets they dont have cams expiry on them either so i believe

Hi all,
I've had in mind replacing my T18 belts. The belts aren't too bad but the retraction mechanism has lost tension - are they repairable/aftermarket replaceable?Don't buy the replacement Klippan belt for a celica as they don't have the drop-down ie they loop over at the roof.
Is the 'drop-down' the stem anchor thingie that the belt threads through?
I've wondered how you get the belts through the plastic thingie on the panel and buckle clip etc.

the drop bit is the part that comes own from the top of the ('B') pillar. it effectively changes the point at which the pivot on the pillar occurs and lowers it accordingly mainly stopping the seat belt sitting too high around your head and shoulder.
some plastic things used to neaten up the interior trim, you slip on before securing the seatbelt with all the bolts.
some might have to be cut however, just a small slit at the back so you can slip the seatbelt around it, but normally a bit of careful greasy elbows can get the job done without resorting to this.
"barned01" thanks mate for going the extra mile on this one, I have written everything down and will now go shopping. I will keep you guys informed with photos, part numbers and prices when the project is completed.
Cheers

ps. did you guys read see my post in the "wanted" section. I'm chasing the LHS black plastic door mould that sits behind the handle. Mind has cracked.
You can get old belts rewebbed, and thats what I did for my car, because all the "generic" ones are dodgy in comparison.

You can buy the door moulds new from Sleeka Spares in SA (do a search, his number etc are on here, great bloke to deal with) and they arent very expensive.
As for the belts, I will personally be refurbishing my belts, I will be removing them, pulling apart the mechanism and servicing, including retensioning/replacing the springs, and I will be taking the belt part to an ADR approved tailor to have the belts themselves replaced. The belt webbing can be bought from some foam shops (JR's foam and Rubber in Townsville have it) and quite possibly some fabric suppliers etc. Then the people operating said shop should know who your local ADR approved Tailor is.
