    Default 1GGTE What is this?

Im currently pulling off my old turbos as they were shagged, before pulling them off i noticed there was a hose plugged up and i wanted to know where it went. so today i looked and found the source.

here is where the hose went in the standard set up

and here is where it lesads to, now one is fine, it goes near the thermostat. But the other one should in theory go to my intercooler piping on the inlet after the AFM. But now There is one there anyway, but before the inlet leading off somewhere (appears to be in the carm, runs through fire wall), so should i bother getting a nipple made and connect it all up? As at the moment i have no cold start (im assuming shagged turbos might be contributing to this?) all help is appreciated while i work through this. cheers

From memory, one line goes from the turbo outlet (as pictured in the 1st pic) to the power steering pump. The other line goes from the power steering pump to the plenum, via the solid line that runs just behind the cam gears/timing cover, fwd of the rocker covers.

power steering idle assister thingy!! it supposedly stops the car from stalling in slow (parking) speed maneuvers...not sure how but yea....its got sumthin to do with the built up pressure inside the rack (hehehe) when its turned near lock at low speeds!

ok cool. it is possible for someone with a 1G pull it off and see if it does anything out of the ordinary. Ie whether its worth me hooking it up

edit: also does the one thats highlighted in red go to the connector at the top or the bottom?

If its the Power Steer Idle Up, and you have Power Steering, i'd hook it up, otherwise your car will try to stall when ever the P/steering has load on it... I.e. when trying to park etc...

If you dont have P/steer, then bypass the p/steer pump and follow to where it supposed to go. If there is something else that used to use it as a vacuum, then its likely that its still going to need it.

Cold start, i think, generally relies on water temp. Or maybe oil temp. I dont think a vacuum line will affect it... But dont quote me on that... 6boost might be able to answer these questions as he knows the 1G top to bottom, back and forth... But not in a sexual way, like i may have made that sound..

Or maybe... Who knows... We'll ask him... lol

    As said, PS idle up.

How it works is as follows...

When there is pressure at the PS pump outlet (i.e. turning ) the two outputs on the PS pump idle up valve are connected.

The PS pump idle up valve is meant to create a small bypass across the throttle, effectively cracking the throttle slightly without you having to do it.

This helps to stop the engine stalling when slow and turning.... a great example is a U turn,,,

Hook it up if you have PS is my suggestion too!

    Cheers
