I would have thought the air would stay in the high points of the tubing as the fluid slowly bled passed. I always thought you would need the pressure and high flow of the master cylinder pumping alot of fluid through the narrow tube quickly to ensure the air was pushed passed the high points until it reaches the final high point being the top of the caliper/brake cylinder.

    Hi,

+1 For bleeding brakes all round. Start with the wheel the longest distance from the master cylinder. Always recommend bleeding brakes with two people too!!!! Gotta be careful when bleeding though not to push the pedal all the way to the floor as this pushes the piston past it's normal operating point and can do damage (rare though) to the master cylinder. Also, check that there isn't liquid leaking from around the bleed points as if liquid is going out then air can come back in and make it spongy!!! Check your rubber brake lines too. If they are cracked - even slightly - then replace them!

when your were bleeding it, were you pumping the pedal? DID YOU PRESS THE PEDAL FLAT TO THE FLOOR????

as with old master's, rust and scale build up at the front of the sleeve, and when you press the pedal to the floor, you push the seal into all that shit, which can fuck the seal straight off......

gravity blleding is fine, BUT, may need to crack the nipples againg after a test drive,
(it works fine if you havent let the mater run dry)
but if theres air in the system, you may need to bleed, drive, bleed it a couple of times, till you force all the air to the calipers.

you dont need to pull the wheels of either, just jack it up and get it from inside the wheel,
