Default Microtech and the AIT Sensor

    Hi

I've got a 4EFTE in my Starlet with a stock air intake temperature sensor. I also have a Microtech that is telling me that the sensor has a problem. I've just replaced the sensor and the problem is still there. I've checked the connector and it's providing +5V and there is resistance across the sensor.

I am wondering if the standard sensor is somehow not compatible with the Microtech and also what sort of resistance the standard temp. sensor should show.

My engine is running disgustingly rich and is putting out a pool of damp black soot on startup. I'm wondering if fixing this will help..

    Thanks for any advice.

Microtech uses the airtemp sensor for its calcs.

I'm not sure if the stock toyota ones work though, I've always used the AC Delco/GM ones.

Stock 4age one works.. but highly doubt it uses it for processing..

provided the compensation maps are setup to suit (rarely done from what ive seen)

ive always used the GM/Delco sensors aswell and they give a fairly accurate signal.

s-twig, if you know how t use the handcontroller etc just zero all the ATcompensation maps, if the problem doesn't change send the car somewhere to get tuned properly, coz it sounds like your just running it on the std basemap.

If the ecu senses an error with the AIT then it automatically disables all temp correction maps.

Toyota and GM temp sensors have different curves

fwiw: manifold air-temp is a pretty important thing to compensate for in a FI motor.

Thanks for the replies. RoadRunner might be right, the map that was on there is called something Toy4CylTurbo, that sounds like something very generic to me, probably straight from Microtech.

    Thanks again.

if its the standard basemap then its only really setup to get the car running. just get it towed to a professional to tune it and roberts your fathers brother.
