Default W.W.T.D? What Would Toymodders Do? Opinions please on Carbies or Turbo or both?

    here's the scenario,

i have a 2tg that i'm told is slightly overbored, with 3t bottom end and some mild cams undisclosed figures.
it is down a little in compression in number three cylinder, but still goes ok.

currently running twin solex 40's side draught (obviously.)

i have just purchased a turbo manifold with a wrx turbo attached, and was wondering

    What Would the Toymodders Do???

    TURBO? TWIN CARBS? or BOTH??

then if it's both, suck thru or blow through??

let's hear some strong opinions on each before i enlighten you as to which i will do.

if anyone has other suggestions, feel free to voice them also.

car is intended for street driving, with an occasional spirited drive on a track (non competitive) and occassional intermittent drift.

    - looking forward to hearing your thoughts

    -Dave

turbo + carby = old school.. but also = ghey.
if you are going to blowthru the two carbs, still better off using them as throttle bodies with injection...

carbvy = nice sound, but ITB = better.
turbo = faster, but turbo+injection = faster than carby+ turbo.... but it is everywhere else that injection will be better

if you have aready decided.. mayeb this should be put in general?

I have an idea of what i want to do, but i value all opinions, and may be swayed by what some reputable people have to say.

i find it funny when people post up help wanted and any suggestiions thread, and do the opposite of what is suggested, so hopefully i don;t become one of those...

please nobody suggest replacing with a 4ag...

    thanks oldcorollas

Carby turbos work but usually in blow through and one carby. I had a worked 18-rc turbo. It ran a su carby and a t3 turbo on a custom manifold. Electronic igniton and it worked well for three years doubling the factory 60kws and making 120kws at the crank on 9psi. Having said that but I put a sr20 det in as I really couldn't make any more power without injection and intercooling ectra. The injected turbo setup is heaps better. Made 140kws at same boost through a exhaust , filter and bigger cooler. Throttle response tens times better and more repeatable on a hot day as we have in qld.

Carbies and turbos don't realy belong together. Having said that, if you are hell bent on joining the 2, as mentioned above, blow thru is the best way to do the job.
Obviously a good intercooler should be used. If you went this route, I'd sujest using a programable ignition timing computer (propper 3D type). I like this from Jaycar: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...=&SUBCATID=347. I think it uses 15x15 rev/load points from memory and it would keep costs down but give you decent igntion timing control.

I'm warming to the blow thru 3tc setup, and now that i purchased a t-18, i think it's clear that the 2tg will prob stay 2tg with twin sidedraughts, and the 3tc will get a right boosted flogging.

    any one else???
