The car would be up to operating temps by then but by thats the point at which it stops burning oil depending on driving style, ie thrash it and it will take less time but put it round and it'll take longer before its running nice and clean. But meh its served me well and it's done a lot of kms.

just so you know, engine revs and the tailshaft are NOT related, only vehicle speed. if you say you have an acceleration problem at whatever revs and that problem occurs at different revs in a different gear it CANNOT be related to the diff and tailshaft. vibrations maybe, but only if they increase with speed, irrelevant to the gear youre in.

    Agree^^^^

And if is revs related I would take a stab at 1. dirty fuel filters/injectors then 2. ignition failure at that RPM. I dont know anything about the 22RE, but is the ignition run off coilpacks or Dizzy, mabey the dizzy is dirty, or mabey your coil/coilpacks is/are breaking down at that RPM. Clean all your HT leads etc, it could be the spark "tracking" to ground along some grubby moist filth in your engine bay.

As for why it happened at the same time as your Axle Tramp incident, I would say pure coincidence.
