Default Suspension problem.... strut, shock, or spring???

Ok well the Rear suspension in my camry is gone.... really gone.

When i push the back down it stays down and if i lift it up it stays up.
And it makes all kinds of horrible noises when i drive, not to mention slides out on corners with anything remotely resembiling a bump in the road.

I havent really done much work on suspension before so my question is...

Is it the shocks not pushing back,

The srings... having no more spring.

Or the strut has totally siezed up. and instead of sliding up and down it seems to be grinding <---- Most likely im thinking this one

Or all of the above combined.... dont really want to spend that much

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The strut is the shock. It won't be the spring, spring collapse is signified by what is known as "gin sag"

So yeah, replacement struts. Also look at bushes, as these may be binding up, but I would say that fukked struts is your problem. Is this something that has come about gradually, or did it suddenly happen??

Would be the shock but also look for damage underneath, enough to possibly bend something. If you can get it checked on a wheel aligner for $10 / mates rates, then you can possibly save yourself rooting new shocks if something is definitely bent somewhere.

Pedders do a free safety check... they will pick up any damage under there.

Well you have to pay them $14 to check it and write-up the report, so your conscience remains clear.

Shows how often I go to pedders

They make plenty of money ripping people off and charging too much, so I wouldn't worry my conscience if I were you. Definitely have it looked at in a workshop though, you may need a new corner.
