is there air coming out of the tube form the comp housings??
or are the wastegates stuck?
connected to correct side of actuator?
Hello
Help.... my 1j is making no more than 4psi boost and i cannot figure it out in the slightest i have run hose from each actuator and the comp house on the turbos t pieced them and put a bleeder on it to try and make the boost rise we even vented it to atmosphere to no avail 4psi its driving me crazy i ran it on the dyno today to see if all was well and it seemed to be 115rwkw on 4 psi any help would be appreciated its driving me crazy![]()
Cheers peoples

Could be quite a number of causes, but a 1JZ with a blown turbo will do something very similar to this. A big air leak post-turbos will also do it.

To check if actuators are the problem...
>Disconnect the hoses to the actuators
>Block hoses to actuators
>Drive and check to see if you get boost, but be careful as you have disconnected the wastegate actuators and hence have forced them shut (could lead to big overboost)!
Check for boost leaks, you should be able to hear a boost leak big enough to leak that much boost...
Next drop the exhaust and check the cat would be my suggestion.
When do you get 4psi of boost from?

When my 1j wasnt making boost, i simply disconnected the actuator and let it vent to atmosphere. It fixed my problem very quickly...
Check all cooler piping is connected correctly... 4psi does sound like the right amount of boost for 1 turbo to make at stock setting...
See what boost you make with the actuator disconnected on one turbo at a time... I imagine if two turbos can make 16psi, then with the actuator disconnected on one turbo, you should see atleast 8psi... Though i'd bet you'd see alot more if your not careful!
If it continues to make 4psi with the actuator disconnected 1 at a time, then you almost rule the turbos out and start looking for leaks...

The problem is if one the turbos is broken (i.e. no rear turbine), then the working turbo should be loosing all its boost out the second turbos compressor (Not spinning) back to the inlet....
I would have through 4psi with a fully non working turbo would be too much, but if one of the turbos still has some of a turbine then it might be possible...

hey people
the problem has now been solved...thought Ben would have told you guys already but i guess he has been busy this week.
cheers
