    Default What struts are these?

Ok, looking for some verification on what these struts were originally out of.

The reason I ask is, I want to turn them into coilovers, but also want to upgrade the brakes in the future, and don't want to turn these struts into coilovers if I will need to replace them when I want bigger brakes. I need XT130 struts for my future upgrade, so am hoping thats what I already have.

They are in a TA22, I bought them from IDB performance with the upgraded ventilated disc's and Sumitomo calipers about 12 years ago, can't find the receipt. I seem to remember them telling me I needed to use Corona strut inserts in them, but am unsure. I do know that I have TA22 inserts and that I had to space the bottoms around 10 to 15mm. The outside diameter of the housing is 51mm, the Caliper bolt spacing is 89mm, there also seems to be a part# stamped on them just behind the top of the rotor: 48510-20080, it also says Toyota and KYB. They also have a separate hub, the PCD of the disc to hub seems to be 4x100, and the wheel PCD is 4x114.3. Any other info needed just ask. Hope someone can help.

    Cheers Brendan

going from the sumitomo 2 piston caliper alone i say they are RT132 (same struts as XT130)

the 90mm caliper spacing will allow you to do pug/hilux upgrade in the future.

I am curious to know what disc you are running

    and FYI

RT132 and some XT130 came with 2 piston sumitomo calipers and 90mm caliper mount spacing
other XT130 struts came with single piston girlock calipers with 90mm caliper mount spacing

some people say the RT132 hub is a bit taller than the XT130 to accommodate the front piston on the 2pot sumitomos, but i dunno if its been confirmed

both RT132 and XT130 have been successfully used in the pug/hilux upgrade.

Hi Rob, well I hope you are right.

I won't be doing the pug/hilux upgrade as I think the calipers are way to heavy, they are alright for a street car but I am planning on setting it up for the track, so want less unsprung weight, just my opinion though.

I am planning on using Wilwood calipers and discs that have integrated hubs, do you know if the stub axels are the same on the XT130 and RT132?? I assume that the caliper mounts are the same if they are both 90mm and people have used both for the pug/hilux upgrade??

As for the brakes on it now, the Sumitomo calipers have had a custom spacer put in the middle to widen them so they accept the wider disc. I am unsure what the disc is off, I recall them telling me a Cressida, and that is what my engineer put on the papers, but it was about 12 years ago, I would have told the engineer that, so I assumed Cressida. But I went and measured them for you. 21mm thickness, 40mm high, 268mm diameter, 76mm hole, and 4x100 bolt holes. Closest I can find in the DBA catalogue is DBA 721 off a Cressida but it has a 248mm diameter?? Everything else is the same, so I am not sure.

    Can anyone confirm these struts????

    Cheers Brendan

*edit - realised I was just repeating what you had already found

Are there any machining marks on the rotors? I would have thought they were Cressida rotors too, but if your diameter measurement is correct... then it looks like you wont be finding those rotors ever again?!

Can't see any machine marks, they should last till I upgrade the brakes anyway. Thanks for the help.

This is probably the 1st generation of a brake upgrade for a Celica utilizing the RT132/XT130 struts. The spacer in the caliper was the first thing done to allow the fitment of a vented rotor. The most common rotor used when this was done was from an RA60. This same rotor can be used with the unmodified bolt on MX63 caliper.

    cheers Chuck.
