Have you emptied the gearbox oil yet ?
Use a chisel/something to wedge between the box and driveshaft cv.
ok is there a trick to pulling the drive shafts out of the st162 or do they just pull out ? also is there any little tricks to know when removing the motor ?cheers peoples

you have to fold the hubs down and remove the shafts,
will need a big pry bar/screwdriver and a hammer to pop them out of the diff,
Fidias - Assuming the FWD drive shafts are close to the same as the front st165 one, yes there is a trick.
Search google for celicatech +manuals and find a link to the service manuals for most model celica's.
I don't reccomend wedgeing something between the box and the CV.
Be careful when pulling them out that are a ripe royal prick to reassemble.

^ They are a different kettle of fish to st165 ones squiddy
passenger side needs to be popped out with a screwdriver or something like mentioned above
drivers side you need to remove the circlip on the CV carrier that is bolted to the block, then it just slides out
I'm assuming you have them free of the hubs....

cheers peoples had them free and have them out also did take motor out the bottom up up and away went the celica
