    Default 1jzgt vs 2jzgt pistons

has anyone really compared 1j turbo pistons with 2j turbo pistons???

they appear to be the same, same bore and same deck height but 2j ones are about 2/3rds the price (forgies) and much more available

    cheers

digging this up and looking into rebuilding a 1jzgte.

I've been googling around for bore specs and found this http://www.turbosupras.com/pages/pag...ZA70/jza70.htm
Not so sure of accurcy as it says the stock bore diameter is 86mm and every where i look for 2jz pistons they are advertise as 86mm pistons?

They probably mean "pistons to fit a 86mm bore" yes/no?

Also a handy help was the mahle website with upper and lower wall clearances but only have listings for 2jzgte pistons.

also found this on suprastore.com in the 2jzgte stage 1 prep block

    Main Bearing Clearances (.0024" - .0026")

    Rod Bearing Clearances (.0024" - .0027")

Piston to Cylinder Wall Clearance .0045"

Piston Top Ring Gap Set to .024"

Piston Lower Ring Gap Set to .019"

Don't know if this is stock ring gap or JE piston ring gap. On the mahle rings they are a file fit.

also should note i'm trying to get 2jzgte pistons because 1jzgte stock slugs are $606 +postage, no rings or pins.

I can confirm that 2jz pistons have a larger deck height than 1jz pistons and therefore are not interchangeable. As you found there are some reasonably priced 1j forgies available now.

2j pistons are a no go in 1jzgtes. all the same but as said about. piston pin to top of piston measurements are totally different
