    Default sticking wastegate - 2JZGTE

it seems my front turbo on the 2j has a sticking wastegate.

are there any tips to lubricating the system so it doesnt stay open? i was thinking of spraying the shaft as best as possible then connecting the actuator line to the manifold so vacuum pulls it closed....

under boost the actuator sees 14+psi across the diaphram..... under vacuum it would see no more then 14.7psi across the diaphram. so i figure is should be able to handle it.

anyone see any problems with doing this?

so i connected the actuator reference line to the manifold in the hope that the vacuum will pull the wastegate shut.

ive had limited success. it seems to close after about 2 mins rather then overnight which was the case before.

im wondering if anyone else has experienced a sticking wastegate?

lubricating (properly) seems nearly impossible without dismantling the entire setup.....which i dont plan on doing

When I was making sure my wastegate wasn't sticking, I actually connected the reference line to a compressed air gun set low. I then sprayed lubricant on it with the extender nozzle while I forcibly opened and closed the wastegate with the compressed air.

Didn't solve my problem, but it sure was moving well afterwards!

since i dont have a robotic arm it seems the hardest bit will be getting the spray can nozzle in place.
