    Default 1g ignitor bodge?

hi guys I have a friend in the club whose 1g has shit its ignitior. I've used a 21 r ignitor in its place, didnt take much. The car now starts and runs for a couple of seconds but wont continue to run . I think that what I missing is a signal from the ignitor to the ecu. Theres a green plug on the 1g with two wires , green and green with a white I think, one carries 12v+ and the other i'm thinking carries a signal back to the ecu. The question is, is it as simple as running the tacho signal back to the ecu through this green wire? I think that these ignitors are bascialy the same thing. anybody, thanks

Sorry about the lack of info, thats what happens when you post just before bedtime.
Its a 1g-ge. As I said before the 21r ignitor lets it run for aout 2-3 secs then cuts out. Theres still power to the coil and the injectors though so the ecu isnt cutting power because it cant see an igf sidnal. I think its because the igf signal isnt compatible with the 1g ecu. I looked at the 5m-ge one today and the plugs seemed to be different. are there different ignitors on a 5m engines

But As the MX73 ADM 5M-GE has the same part number..
as per the toyota EPC... # 89620-22340.... as the GX71, 1G-GE motor,
    & it also run's a MAP , (not AFM)

The motor is in a ra28, dont really know where it came from as I'm just looking at it for a friend. I saw a cressida with an ignitor with that exact number yesterday but it looked different to the one in the car, I'll have to bring the old one to the scrap yard to compare them.

    The MX73 5M-GE igniter part number # 89620-22340..
is the same as the 1G-GE MAP motor's igniter, " plug & all ".... so they is the same..

But if you have a motor from a Supra or other with an AFM..
    part number # 89620-30130... where to find... = ..????

But as the 5M-GE motor has an AFM, & my 1G-GE motor has a MAP..
So it may only be the plug's that differ..
