Garth, thanks for the update. I am still right to go i have organised time off so the plan is to come wether i drive or not.

if its wet that will be interesting indeed.

I have some project Mu pads on order so all things going well should be in for the 20th, otherwise the current pads will be finished, thats for suure.

Brendon, i agree with your comments

The main thing you hava to remember about the wet is this :

The track will be slippery and have a fair bit less grip, the kicker is that if you venture OFF the track it is EVEN SLIPPRIER !!!!! That means that those walls / tire barriers that seem a LOOOONG way in the distance will come up very quickley in the wet. I have only been to Wakefield half a dozen times but i have never seen anyone hit anything in the dry. The only time i have been there in the wet four cars hit various things, 2 cars were written off, we certainly DONT want that !

Driving in the wet is a great way to show up the handling flaws in the car and the rough handling of a driver, so while the times may be slow its a great opportunity to hone your skills.

I would certainly be taking the opportunity to get some drift skills, i figure if i can drive an AW11 sideways i can drive ANYTHING SIDEWAYS

Looked over the new DS2500 pads for the 8 spots. I can confirm are the same pad as for AP 6 spots so the rumour the 8 spots are based on that caliper appears to have been spot on

The next bonus is the genuine pad has approx 20% more pad area than the pads i had (on the same backing plate) so hopefully will add even more gains to what i hope to see from the material change

Just need a dry track to really test them now

Adam, like people said, if it rains, you get to practice your wet weather driving. It's certainly not a boring day, nowhere near as bad as some people make out.

In terms of any pullouts, nothing doing on the cash front, that's why i ask for people to be definates when they claim a spot. We've already fronted the track fees to wakefield long before we get money from you guys so unless wakefield closes the track and gives us our money back, there's nothing to return.

If somebody's car breaks or similar in the lead up, we make use of the wait list and somebody from there jumps in to fill, and i'll pass their money back on through to the first person when it comes in.

I've been going there for years and only ever seen a couple of moderate incidents. (I wasn't there the time a guy rolled 3-4 times off the end of the straight!) It really is a very safe circuit, i guess it's relative though - eastern creek or oran park in the wet really changes your perspective on things being close and coming up quickly. Wakefield is surrounded by paddocks.

Sounds like an ad for a womens sanitary product.

Cuzzo, unless your car is made of sugar and will dissolve in the rain harden the phuck up

For all but a couple of car on that list they'll still be able to go "fast" in the wet on that track.

I had a ball on the track last time it rained with bald worn out semi-slicks. I was pissing myself laughing the whole time.

Speaking of bald or wearing tyres.. How much tyre do you chew on an average day at wakefield? I race karts and in FSAE but thats with full slicks, ive really no idea how long soft street tyres will last.. Ive got pirelli pzeros on the back atm and really wanted to keep them for wakefield as theyre a fairly grippy tyre (treadware 140). But theyve only got about 1-2mm of tread left, keep them on or change to the T1Rs that will replace them?

I did 8 or 9 trips to the track last year and 5 or 6 of those days were on the same tyres I am still running now. The other 3 were on a flogged out set of Khumo V70A's that I also drove to and from the track on. They were completely rooted by the last session of the last day I used them though and would have been an instant defect had I been pulled over.

My tyres on the car now would have 1 maybe two track day left in them +some sedate street driving before they'd be deemed illegal.

*Note though that my car isn't heavy or massively powered and I don't drive hard so my tyres probably last longer than most.

I would beg to differ and will dig up evidence of plentiful sideways action if required

You are also out there 5 times longer than anyone else

Mos: I'm considering RT615 or R888 at the moment, leaning toward R888 due to more/better sizes

No worries, it cant be fairer than that.

I totally agree Wakefield is by far the safest track irrespective of conditions.

I have been at Oran and a few cars have gone into walls RIGHT in front of me..... BANG !!!! its not a nice sound anyone ever raced on Amaroo park ? that was a concrete jungle, but how about at Catalina up Katoomba way, who ever raced there must have had mighty BIG BALLS there is ZERO run off anywhere plus its up and down like a yo yo. I never drove on it but i have ridden the pushy around it and it was freaky just doing that, just about every square inch of wall had marks on it

All i was getting at is a small off in the dry can become a BIG OFF in the wet.
