    Default Albany hill climb event

    Hello,

Just wondering if any of you will be coming down to Albany for this event on May 31?

I'd like to give it a go, but i need to get a CAMs license, anyone know what i need to do? I do know that i have to be part of a CAMs affiliated car club, is this club one?

    Cheers,
    Craig.

P.S. I hope i'm ok posting this here, if not, i'm sorry!

Is that the long weekend one, round the houses, sprint and hillclimb all in the one weekend? I usually go down, but I havent competed there - yet.

AFAIK toymods is not cams affilliated. Check out the cams website go to the clubs section and search for WA clubs. There is one based in albany. You have to be a club member to get a cams license, and I think the cheapest WA one is the CMC sports register, which is about $50/year. Then get a L2S license which wil let you compete in most hillclimbs and speed events, which is about $100 a year.

    cheers

    Thanks for the reply Luke!

Yes, it is that one. I'm seriously considering giving the hill climb a go. It is $75 a day, and i just found out that i can get a CAMs day license for $80 if i can not sort out something else before hand.

I'm considering taking Jenelle down for another weekend of checking out the action and enjoying Albany, but not competing.

Mind you, I've got the 2S CAMS license, and the Hill Climb could be fun

Let me know if you're heading down Luke. I might need to look into the Hill Climb.

Yep, I should be heading down with a bunch of friends, for the motorkhana, hillclimb, and regularity run. Look out for the little V8 Chevy Canam!

Yep I am definitely going down. Just finalised my accommodation last night.

Devils - what will you be entering in? I'll make sure to get some video/photos.

Hmmmmm, Jenelle reckons we're a bit tight on the budget atm, so not sure if I'll be able to make it.

I'll let you know if I can wrangle something.

Possible spare bed where we're staying (B&B surrounding Albany), so that's your accom slashed to equal share of not much, if you're interested?

    Clint,

Thanks, thinking about it. Do you have a spare seat for the drive down? Just figuring things out as Jenelle doesn't seem too fussed about going down, so thinking about whether to head down myself, convince Jenelle otherwise or whether to hitch up with someone heading down.

Either or - getting down there is not an issue, but you need to PM me with intentions as bedding, or an area of floor for bedding is fast filling up!

I think I'd better just say I won't be able to make it down this year. A few unexpected things been happening, etc. So, rather than leave it to the last minute, I think I'll keep it simple and bail out :-(

This is probably a bit late but,....

To join the CMC, I think you have to be a member of one of their member clubs...

AFARCC is CAMS affiliated though, and membership is about $50 a year, which entitles you to not only get a CAMS license through us (yes, L2S is the recommended one for most entry level events) but also to enter our track days at Wanneroo, Collie and AHG at members prices (usually around $20 - $40 cheaper than non-member prices)

Plus we have a bunch of members with modified Toyota's, including a couple off these forums...
