    howieau :
i reckon yours will look like this

thats an echlin ep759 cap. that suits ae82 (and actually fits the ae92 dizzy as well HOWEVER the leads between the ae82 and ae92 are different) - the ae92 uses 5mm leads and smallish boots on the cap whereas the ae82 uses 7-8mm leads and has large boots on the cap.

    hope all this helps

My sister currently has a distributor cap(the one I want to replace) that has the spark lead inlets at 90*. I tried to install the GD687 but had the same problem as yourself in that one of the bolt holes was about 3mm out. If the EP759 cap didn't fit your distributor either than it won't fit my sisters unfortunately. Perhaps a previous owner installed an AE86 distributor on my sisters 4AGE aswell at some stage. So what exactly was the Bosch part number again of the correct distributor cap you now run? I saw you posted it before but that long number doesn't follow the same format as all of the other Bosch product codes and I can't find it in their catalogue.

    Cheers

semi-bump. I'm currently in the same position. Need a new dizzy cap, the GD687 was a couple of mm out on the bolt hole.

So it looks like I need a GD826. Unfortunately none available in Darwin... No Biggy I'll order one if need be.

BUT, I was running an AW11 MR2 dizzy cap. It lined up and placed the leads pointing towards the bonnet. I was wondering if anyone had an aftermarket part number I could order for one of these as I would prefer the leads to point this way - they're a bit short.

An old catelogue listed a GD801 but the current one on the net doesn't list anything.

Also does it matter what rotor I use as the rotor part numbers for the AE82 4AGE and AW11 4AGE are different...

    Thanks

Far out, reading comprehension > me.

Just went over your previous posts and its obvious that that is worth a crack!

Just need to find someone up here that stocks Echlin, or can get them in.

Or if someone can recommend a retailer that'd be great.

    Thanks Grega.

Do you have a Bursons up there? I've got Echlin gear before through them.

Edit: On further investigation, there aren't any stores in NT....

No burnsons at all up here... I'll try local suppliers and see if they can get Echlin. Otherwise I suppose I'll ring a bursons store and see if they'll post.

If you’re looking for a Bosch dizzy cap to suit AE82 4AGE Twincam the part number is GD801 (as mentioned by Killswitch). Even though the cap is not listed in the current catalog it is still available (have checked with a supplier who has a few on the shelf) but I’d say you would have to get it ordered in. As pointed out in earlier posts the other option is to use the Echlin EP759 which cross references to a GD801.

    Cheers

I have had repeated problems with 4AG caps at work and have resorted to only using genuine ones which i always get based on the dissy part number. There are 3 totally different 4AG caps
the latest 'saga" with some caps is the distance between the tip of the rotor arm and the brass end of the arm itself, can be too big and you get a misfire under load
It seems that even some genuine caps have this problem and it stems from mixing caps and rotor arms. On my race car, I have soldered up the end of the rotor arm, and re-profiled it, to get the gap correct and in the correct position

Note the part numbers I quoted were for a smallport 4AGE which are different to the bigport ever so slightly from memory.
