From memory both lines are internally the same, eg they both go to the base of the tank.
Cheers,
Simon
Some of you may know i am experiencing a fuel problem with my ta22 in a 3tgte, car has pre pump to surge tank then main pump to fuel rail.
The following photo is shot from underneath and the forward most part of the fuel tank (towards engine). I just want confirmation which is the pickup and which is the return?
I'll go from there, thanks

If we could find a standard carby car and trace the line through...
Yeah only one goes to the bottom of the tank.
Pull the hoses off and blow into them. If you hear the fuel bubbling that's the one that goes to the bottom.
correct me if im wrong but the one with the filter hanging of it would be pick up line,
wouldn't it?
GW,
I have just had a look in my spare tank and both lines go to the bottom of the tank.
When looking up from under the car, where the fuel lines come out above the diff, the carby supply line is the one closest to the wheel.
Hope this helps,
Wheelie
Go with the blow in one of the lines, and listen for bubbles.
Your car is the floor mounted tank from memory. The lines go into the tank at the same height, but one goes to the bottom of the tank. I will try and have a look at mine tommorow, if this bloody rain/flooding stops.

wheel rim: which wheel was that?![]()
The tank I am refering to is the standard TA22 tank.I can't see the top of the tank that is in the 22 because it is behind the amp panel. Where the lines come out under the car above the diff the line on the outside closest to the rear drivers side wheel runs to the engine bay then bends around to face the firewall.

Wheelie.
That Photo deffinatly shows the 70 - Early 72 Floor mount tank. Not the late model behind the seat tank.

Ok, just went and physically checked my spare tank, connection nearest to drivers side rear wheel in the early underfloor type tank is the pick up, return line is closest to passenger wheel and does not go to bottom of tank but is straight pipe to return fuel about 3/4 way up the tank. This is from a 71 model ta22.
Hope this helps
