going into an AE71, as i still have a soft spot for them.

just waiting on some parts to arrive before i can continue on the build process.

also, hate to ruin your idea but a 3s in an A80 won't be a hell of alot of fun as they have 0 low RPM torque and an A80 ain't the lighest thing around, it could be made to move but would be a fairly compromised vehicle

    cheers

He's pretty well known in motorsport circles over there and has a very tidy GrpA GT4 plus a nice JZA80. Broke his back in motorcross ending a promising career....has given him an interesting perspective on life and is a straight talking funny bastard.

Pretty sure the TOMS SA80 wasn't exactly factory weight, so that isn't a very good comparison.

The advantage of the dual VVT-i on the Beams motor though is that it has a lot more torque than a normal 3S-GE. This gets carried through to turbocharged re-incarnations (such as this one), but would need to be a pretty wild setup in a nicely gutted A80 to make it viable. Just my thoughts anyways.

Linden... keep the AE71 granny spec, nice sleeper Widened steel wheels FTW!! (oh and a granny visor)

its going to the track in its poo brown livery with biege interior, so hey why not.
doubt the 4AGE+auto combo will keep me happy though so i might swap with draven so he has some training wheels.

hmm he is sounding VERY familiar but im struggling to place a face to him...

I realise the 3s into the jza80 is a tough one to make work right, i weighed mine and it was only 1435kg which suprised me, that was with full stereo (2 12's amps, caps etc) and full interior. It would HAVE to be turbo, i dunno i just keep looking at the Top Secret Gold A80 on my wall and think hell yeah that shit would suprise people, and that wasnt even beams 3s....

I most likely wont do it as i kinda bought something for it over the weekend anyway although this is the 3rd "something i've bought for it" so see if i actually go ahead or if i sell it off.....again.

    Scion looks tidy.

AE71 is pretty light Linden. 300rwkw will be insane for sure but you'd get 90% of the fun at 20% the cost with just a tidy turbo setup on a stock engine don't you think?

yeah could do but this engine needs a rebuild so if im going to do it i won't be doing it twice (i hope)

the last car had 240rwkw and yes it was fun but i don't see any reason not to go for more considering that the technology in the new engine will allow more power with similar response.

    cheers

well some good news has come my way.

we leakdown tested the engine on tuesday and it came up with 10% leakdown across the board so the engine is healthy to say the least.

i also picked up an OS Giken gearset for my $250 R154 so its been sent off to get rebuilt for the rolla. the ratio spread looks a shitload better on paper.

SM4 is here and i still have 90% of the components needed from the old car.

im going to do a dummy fit in the 1Jrolla first so its just a 3day swap into the new car.

this engine is going to get punished in stock form so ill start getting a bottom end rebuilt shortly and just wait for it to die b4 changing over.

Still not sure what the hell is going on with the cam-bucket clearances though, any ideas? they seem to be about 1mm which is waaaay to big.

Valve springs, any known off the shelf items for reasonable $$$? and does anyone know the stock dimensions/rates?

    cheers

PS will get some pics when i make some progress
