motors brand new and this is the first time its been run if that helps..
from that diagram my timing marks do line up.
but the dizzy rotor should be perfect...

Its kinda confusing, when i change the timing on the rotor the car acts differently. at the moment with the timing almost perfect its missing a bit when revd. and stalling indstead of idleing.
before it would idle high, and stall when revved..

When you had the timing light on it, what advance was running? Should be 10 degrees BTDC with the T and E1 terminals shorted.
If it's significantly different to this, or you can only get it to 10 with the dizzy turned all the way over, then it's a tooth out.

I'd double/triple check the dizzy rotor anyway, it's really, really easy to have it a tooth or two out (I know, it took 3 goes to get mine right ).

What RPM is it idling on?

How are the spark plugs and leads? good condition? Gaps ok? what does the rotor button and dizzy cap look like? any crap built up on the contacts? any cracks in the cap?

Once it warms up a bit, Does it still miss when revved? Will it idle after it's warm?

Check the vacuum lines for cracks or leaks, or a vacuum port not capped off, stick your ear down near the plenum and listen for air being sucked in were it shouldn't - esp. the cam cover breather and brake booster hose.
    Good. Fast. Cheap.

    Pick 2.
