    Default Reliable 20v turbo

    Hi

My mate used to own an Escort with a turbo charged 4AGZE, running a Microtech. It was
standard internally and made a reliable 200kw at the wheels on 20psi with a GT28r.

I was wondering if I was able to go for the same power figure (maybe a bit more like
300fwhp) using 4AGZE pistons, stock rods and crank with my 20v silvertop, or am I pushing the limits of the stock rods?

What I'd like to achieve is an engine that is reliable, and made with common components
that are readily available and nothing to exotic.

If I am off the mark please let me know, because I'd like to know where I should be aiming for reliable power and boost.

    Thanks for the advice.

    SR20DET is a better option.

    What's it going in?
Is it going to be a daily?

Silvertop turbo, i would probably want to run about 14 psi on a Daily aiming for around 160-180 FWKW to keep it reliable

    have fun with that,

to mount the engine in there CORRECTLY there is a fair amount of work that needs to be done including notching the front left rail to fit the gearbox in.

    cheers

    Yeah easy as.
Engine wise it will be fine, i did the same thing for my previous engine, and made 292hp atw at 19psi. Was a standard 20V silvertop with 8.9 GZE pistons.
Make sure you replace the rod bolts when you pull it apart, i just got new genuine toyota ones rather than ARP, and other than the everything else is fine.

So if someone hasn't notched the chassis rail, they haven't done it properly? How big a notch are you talking?

about 2 inches needs to be cut out to get it to fit with the engine level and keeping the driveshafts at decent angles.

And which gearbox are you talking about linden? C56? I don't know if i'd want to be running 300fwhp through a c-series, would an e-series create a bigger problem to get in there?

??? not sure what the code is. 6 speed from the blacktop 1/2cut. N/A so not much to worry about torque wise.

    cheers

C160. Very similar in external dimensions to the 5 spd variants. The E-series (fwd gze among other things) is fatter, would be tougher again to fit.
