If thickwalled moly = bulletproof than thinwalled moly = bulletproof
As the way ChroMo gradings work it just gets more expensive.

for your car, which i guess is a drag car, i have never seen alloy used.

all yank drag cars use steel for the "radius" rods.

there is only one off the shelf 4 link if have ever seen, for an ae86, that uses alloy arms, and even they use huge 3/4 bore/shank rod ends.

i assume youre wanting to stay with 1/2" bore as thats what youre pommy car is, but if you wanna go alloy, you need to step it up..

but like people have said, its fatigue thats going to be your problem, not the yield strength.

the mail order place some one has left links to freights to AU also.

    what do you mean?

thicker wall at same diameter is going to be stronger in all directions..
but thin wall.. you get to a point where it is not so strong anymore
ie, i'd rather use 1mm thickness than 0.2mm.. or 2mm vs 1mm.. for something i really didn't want to break and was going to have at least 2 tonnes of force on it.

chromoly is not a particularly special alloy, it just happens to be fairly strong for its weight, whilst still being tough and not so much elastic deformation..

One point is if you have a watts link and are running bearing rod ends on every connection there really shouldn't be a bending load on the trailing arms. Unless the watts link fails of course and if that happens your up brown creek already.

Upon answering Dimitri's other thread I realised I can add info here.

T3 are the mob who do the alloy rear arm set and yes these are solid alloy arms, but they are much bigger than the OEM ones. I have a set of these. Beautifully made and probably weigh as much as the OEM bars and bushes. T3 must have their reasons for going down this path though.

Cheaper for them. The guy is all tooled up for machining alloy, wheras his steel components are more expensive and much more simple.
