    Default 1JZ GTE 100K service

I assume someone must have done this to their car or at least did something similar before a conversion so....
MY GF's JZZ30 soarer is up soon for 'the big one'.
I am just wondering what people have done for these.
If i do the service the engine will be staying in the car (if this is possible), so has anyone performed this and what parts did you replace and what were the part numbers that you used.

To start off I assume i need:
*NOTE* text in blue is confirmed or factually in use without issues
    timing belt 13568-49025
    water pump (1610049846 )
    spark plugs ngk bkr6e
oil I am using Shell Ultra 5w/50 i think
    oil filter 90915-20003 (or 90915-20001)
transmission fluid dexron III (or toyota type IV)
    timing belt tensioner (1350546020)
    crankshaft seal (not necessary) (9031146001)
    camshaft sealx2 (not necessary) (9031138041)
    fuel filter (Need Part number)
    thermostat (Need Part number)
coolant standard toyota red coolant 4L topup with demineralised water

any hints and tips out there???
note this will turn into a blow by blow picture guide when i get to it to help everyone else outbutbut as much info before i start is always great .

That's a pretty good list there, you might not have to replace the water pump, but it's probably a good idea to. Even if you don't remove the radiator, unless you can remember exactly when you replaced the coolant (if you have) it probably needed changing anyway.

plugs: ngk bkr6e for stock car
    oil filter: z418
oil: your choice but recommended stock is 10w30
trans fluid: most likely dexron 3 but can use toyota type IV
timing belt: I have one at home and will check the part number

    Trade prices..

    water pump ~120
    Timing belt ~40
    tensioner ~112

incidentally the full retail price on a hilux heater core is $690..

I have a tensioner here with a new bearing to go in it if you want? (useful if you currently have the plastic tensioner)
    and I don't recommend 10w30 for a 1jz with 100K kms on it.
a good 10w40 or 15w50 would be the go (of course, if you're not burning oil with your current oil, stick with that)

    Hi,

I'm up for the same fate as barned01 as well. Info on 1JZs up here is pretty light on here and I can see my arse getting reamed in parts especially if I just give it to someone to do.

I want to get a list of parts and part numbers I will require so I can do a little shopping around and also to have all the parts ready to go when I hand over my car for the service.

This is my list so far:

    Timing Belt - 13568-49025
    Tensioner Kit -
    Water Pump - #1610049846 ?
    Cam Seals - 90311-38041
    Spark plugs - ngk bkr6e
    Fuel Filter -

    Anything else?

    Cheers
    Fingers

They are the seals at the end of the camshafts under the cam gears. I wouldn't bother unless they are leaking.

Here is what I posted about the 2JZGE on SC400Central.

Most of it would apply to the 1JZGTE (cept dizzy/rotor/leads)

Timing belts vary from motor to motor (1UZ vs 1JZ vs another etc)
Some are at 100,000km, some are at 140,000km, some are between.

If you don't know what has been replaced on the motor, and you intend on doing another 50,000km+ on it, I'd replace everything.

Off the top of my head.

    Oil
    Oil filter
    Leads
    Plugs
    Dizzy Cap
    Rotor
    Accessories Belt
    Accessories Belt bearings (tensioner, idler)
    Timing belt
    Timing belt bearings
    Waterpump
    Coolant
    Thermostat

    Clean the ISCV
    Clean the throttle body.

    Fuel Filter
    Air Filter
    Power Steering Fluid Flush
    Autobox Fluid Flush

Thats about the limit of what I did to my 1UZ before I put it in my car (still yet to do water pump and timing belt bearings, but I've done the rest).

Not 100% on total cost there, but on the 1UZ that would stack up to about $1200-$1500ish, depending on if you pay full price for everything, or trade.

But that should see you almost 100,000km without touching anything, and a minor service 50,000km after that.

NFI, I recall my mechanic saying there was a slight leak from these and its just been something I've read a few times whilst searching.

Hopefully someone with practical experience can shed some light.

Oh I agree with that. I use 15w60 Penrite now. I don't know why people want to run 5w30 etc. in older engines?

Fingers: replace cam seals if there is a leak. If you pull the timing belt cover off you can see if the metal is clean or oily. If it is oily it is pretty much either cam seals or cam cover gasket but on the front I would think it would be cam seals. No leak then don't bother replacing.

BTW I have a tensioner as well I only have alternator, water pump and harmonic balancer so no need for it

If you replace the trans fluid, use the Toyota stuff - it's not too pricey and easy to get, even comes in a stylish (and inconvenient!) little tin. Also, when replacing the trans fluid, clean the filter.
