    Default 1UZ tacho adapter

I'v done some searching and can't find what i need. I'v got a 1uz in an ma61 with digital dash. I'v hooked up the tacho and it's working, but it's 50% off. I know they run a 4cyl output and i have a 6cyl dash. Would anyone know how i could solve this problem. With something like a home made tacho adapter.

If you had an analogue dash, I'd suggest swapping in the tacho from an xA6x Celica (in fact, I could sell you mine, as I'm putting an analog MA6x dash in my Celica), but it's unlikely that that would work with a digital dash.

Is there a trimpot inside? Some toy tachos allow 4/6 cyl adjustment by tweaking a trimpot.

I used the Jaycar Digital Speedo Adjuster when I put a 6 inplace of a 4, works well.

I was working on the (stated) assumption that 4 and 8 were the same tacho signal

Hmm, I like where you are going with this.
Do you notice much of a delay?
I've used the speedo adjuster for a speedo, and the delay is quite noticeable under hard acceleration.

It's good but there is a bit of hesitation when you first start the car, then the needle jumps to what ever the idle speed decides it's going to be. I was using the older design, so maybe the newer 1 doesn't have that minor glitch. Other than that, it moves sweet and show the same revs as my Innove data log/live gauge does when it's hooked up.
The needle also gets to the rev limmiter rpm figure as just as the engine starts bouncing off it. I'd use the method again if/when I do another conversion that adds or subtracs cylinders.

I completely pulled apart a spare ma61 digital dash last night and i couldn't find any trim pot. Looks like i'll have to try the speedo adjuster.

just use a RA60/5 analog dash..

i've seen a RA63 with dig' dash here in Adelaide.. for sale ???? but car is being stripped.. i'll ask..

Q:- do you have a pic of the gut's of MA dash..?? taco part...
on the analog taco there is a capasitor & resistor that is different between the 4 & 6 ..

also try the U.K. web sites as i think they got a dig'y dash option in there RA6x celica's

    cheers
