    Default Corona/Peugot/Hilux - Wilwood calipers?

    Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has used Wilwood calipers in place of the hilux 4 spot for the popular Corona/Peugot/Hilux brake upgrade for early Celicas etc?

If so, anyone know what model number Wilwoods fit and how they perform compared to the hilux units?

    Cheers,
    Simon

    Hi simon,
I have bought the wilwoods to do this. But i have nothing else for the conversion as yet. I should be able to get you the part number of the ones i bought. The only real trick is to match the part numbers with the thickness and diameter of the disc you intend to use.

im asuming that you will atleast need custom brackets.

and why would you waste a nice set of calipers with small pissy lil pug rotors?(unless your trying to fit them in small wheels...)

but you will atleast need to know the caliper bolt spacing, aswell as the caliper offset (most you will probably find in the pug/lux brake thread)
them match a willwood caliper from there teck drawing's (or get one very close and make it work)

    blake

I already have the peugot discs with XT130 struts but only Corona twin spot calipers. My wheels are 15 inch, maybe I could fit bigger discs but I want to keep the same stud pattern.

I should really take my wheel off and measure myself, being lazy I was hoping someone already has the answer...

    Cheers,
    Simon

What discs etc are you planning to use? Have you got pics of your calipers?

    Cheers,

Im not entirely sure on this, but im pretty sure the only variable counting out the model with wilwoods is the thickness and diamter of the discs

Oh, No pics. i have a receipt here somewhere. Ill get the part number for you.

EDIT: ok heres what i bought.

not saying these are the right ones, but im pretty sure i matched it to the discs thickness and diameter of the discs i planned to use at the time,(i forgot which ones they were now, its been so long)
They are "caliper dynalite 4 spot .810' disc"

Ok so i took some pics.

    Please excuse the qaulity.

The mounting hole distance is about 135mm from hole to hole.

The center of the caliper(center of disc) is about 25mm from the inside of the mounting flange.

    Enjoy

Thanks for the pics. I'm hoping to find something thats a direct fit, eg with bolt centres of 90mm.

    Cheers,
    Simon

Why not troll through the Wilwood site and look for calipers with the right dimensions? The last time I did this I found everything I needed to make a reasonably accurate cad model of the caliper... here: http://www.wilwood.com/Products/001-Calipers/index.asp

You will also need to think about the piston size (combined size if changing number of pistons). You may or may not need to change your master and play with brake balance.
You also have to consider whether the disc will be centred correctly in the caliper (the opposed pistons will account for some variation).

and why would you waste a nice set of calipers with small pissy lil pug rotors?(unless your trying to fit them in small wheels...
    Because bigger usually = heavier

In some wilwoods the mounting bolt distance is very close to Hilux caliper.
I'm going to get wilwoods so I have already done some digging...

    For example:

I think that 1.1mm difference can be solved with little bit of filing or better yet milling machine...
