If I have to change the pump, which is the best to use? 5s? If I change the pump I will have to revert to a gen 2 style oil cooler which allows the filter to be fitted to the top. Can anybody confirm all this?
Cheers

Hello all. I'm in the midst of a rwd 3sgte conversion and need to know something about the gen 3 3sgte sump
Please refer to pic attached.
The flange with two 12mm and the 23mm bolts on it, I assume this is the oil pressure relief valve? If so, I have removed as a part of the rwd conversion in order to keep the sum level and have fitted a 2s sump. How do I compensate for the valve's absence? Could I just use a filter that has a relief built in? Would a gen 2 3sgte filter be suitable? I am fitting a remote filter mount but it is not fitted with a pressure relief.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew

Bump..................
ok you have a gen 3 sump for a fwd motor ,what you need is a 5sfe camry oil pump and get a 2s oil sump and oil pick up as the 2s sump is rear wheel drive also need the brackets from this and starter as well and also the backing plates and the engine mounts 2 will help
and just by pass the oil heat exchanger and bolt on oil filter to where that goes ,water to by pass the heat exchanger as you are taking it off then use the bolt that is in the alloy sump [filter screws to and put into the block and screw on new filter ]problem solved
Thanks for that. I have already installed the motor, with modified 2s sump, cover plates, trans brackets etc but was trying to decide what to do with the pump and the pickup. Regarding the oil heat exchanger, I think I'd prefer to run it. I am able to do it, but wonder if it would be wise to install an adapter and remote filter and them run the oil heat exchanger on top of the adapter plate? This in effect would filter the oil before it is run through the heat excahnger. I can't see any probs with this, can anyone else?
Also, the 5s oil pump has the pressure relief built in?
Cheers and thanks again.
Andrew
oil relief valve is built in to oil pump
